Oracle Database@Azure service is now available in the Microsoft Azure US East region.

Computer software company Oracle has announced the availability of its Oracle Database@Azure service in the Microsoft Azure US East region. Through this collaboration, Oracle will manage Oracle Exadata Database Service within Azure data centers.
Oracle Database@Azure delivers the performance, scale, and workload availability of Oracle Database, including features like Real Application Clusters and built-in security, integrated with Azure services like Azure OpenAI for generative AI applications.
The new product enables rapid migration of Oracle databases to the cloud by leveraging compatibility with Oracle Zero Downtime Migration and consistency with on-premises Oracle Database and Oracle Exadata deployments. Additionally, customers can use OCI and Azure technologies to build new cloud-based applications.
Availability of Oracle Database@Azure will expand to regions outside the United States in 2024, including Central Germany, East Australia, Central France, Central Canada, South Brazil, East Japan, South England, Central US, and South Central US.
“Oracle Database@Azure simplifies the process of migrating Oracle workloads to Azure, enabling customers across industries to power business transformation by combining the best of Oracle with the breadth of Microsoft cloud services such as Azure AI, application platform, and developer services. .”
said Erin Chapple, corporate vice president of Azure core products and design at Microsoft.
Oracle will work with Microsoft to accelerate data center shutdowns for customers migrating their on-premises Oracle infrastructure to the cloud. The goal of the joint effort is to solve customer challenges by integrating cutting-edge technologies and embracing multicloud architecture.
“Ninety-eight percent of Fortune 100 companies run Oracle Database, and leading organizations in every industry have used Oracle Exadata and RAC technologies to build mission-critical applications on-premises. Most of these workloads have not yet been moved to the cloud.”
said Karan Batta, senior vice president of Oracle Cloud Infrastructure.
Data plays a critical role in the functioning of any business, and cloud technology can empower businesses with increased flexibility, cost savings, security, and the ability to derive actionable insights from data.
According to a recent Gartner report, by 2028, cloud computing will move from a technology disruptor to a necessary component to keep businesses competitive.
As businesses advance through innovation and technology, interoperability between cloud service providers has become essential. Oracle’s recent announcement therefore highlights the company’s commitment to providing collaboration solutions that help organizations navigate the digital landscape, with the goal of providing the best experience to customers.
