Littlefield prioritizes listening to its user community to make the grid a home for everyone, Balazic said. Hypergrid business. There are monthly grid meetings where residents can ask questions, make suggestions, or let managers know about issues they may not be aware of. We also have six full-time grid managers to deal with day-to-day issues.

“We have told our residents many times that the grid is where our managers live, this is our home and we want to make sure it operates as best as it can for all of us,” he said. “We think this concept changes everything. Unless you live on the grid full time, you have no way of knowing how well or poorly the grid is working on a daily basis, nor can you talk to residents directly to find out what you’re seeing. tea.”

Grid was recently migrated from OpenSim version 8.2 to version 9.2 after spending a year in testing and development. He said the work was done slowly because the needs of residents were prioritized to avoid losing what residents had developed over the years.

We currently run nine production data servers, including two mirrored grid servers and one hot backup server, in our US-based data centers.

A “hot” backup is one you can switch to immediately if something goes wrong, while a “cold” backup must be restored before you can use it.

Littlefield’s journey began in 2011 with OSgrid in approximately 50 locations. It became a stand-alone grid in 2013 because the managers and owners wanted to do other things, including making it an adults-only grid. Additionally, since OSgrid is a non-profit grid run by volunteers, we felt it would be unfair to over-utilize OSgrid’s resources.

Besides Balazic, the other two co-founders were lead developer Ashton Nobilis and engineer Dirk Mathers.

There are also residents who have been here for ten years, including Xi Shi, who runs the Ruritania region, Windrunner Constantine, who is currently one of the grid managers, and Muddpuddle Cleanslate, who is responsible for several Art regions, including Pepperland and All. All things must pass.

“We’ve been so blessed over the years to have some amazing builders and content creators as grid residents supporting Littlefield’s original content,” Balazic said. “Ada Wong and manager Camryn Darkstone have been integral in creating clothing for the grid. Toy McBride, who is also the grid manager, has filled the grid with original furniture for the residents, and lastly, Aine Caoimhe, the creator of PMAC, and most importantly, the Paramour Dance Ball, the de facto dance system utilized in almost all of OpenSimulator. grid. Having these talents on the grid has definitely helped make it what it is today.”
