briefly
Following the success of the Deadfellaz NFT series, Skale Labs and DFZ Labs are co-developing Death Touch, a mobile-first trading card game targeting web3 and traditional gamers.
Skale Labs and DFZ Labs, developers of the well-known Deadfellaz NFT series, have partnered to release a new trading card game called Death Touch. Built on Skale’s gasless blockchain and scheduled for release in Q1 2025, the mobile-first game is intended to appeal to both web3 fans and traditional gamers.
When co-founders Psych and Betty introduced the Deadfellaz collection on Ethereum in 2021, they immediately garnered a passionate audience known as “Horde.” Standing out for its creative gamification and captivating storylines, Deadfellaz has amassed a dedicated fan base of over 6,000 collectors, including celebrities like Reese Witherspoon, Steve Aoki, Bill Murray, and Alexis Ohanian.
Mobile-focused accessibility strategy
Death Touch’s specs aren’t yet known, but DFZ Labs has promised to create the game with mobile devices in mind. This is in line with our goal of fusing blockchain with widely accessible gaming. The free-to-play (F2P) model is supported by leveraging Skale’s gasless blockchain, which eliminates traditional blockchain transaction fees and provides a seamless user experience that lowers barriers for the average gamer.
Creating a broader gaming ecosystem using Skale
With over 150 titles currently supported, Skale Labs has emerged as a key player in the blockchain gaming market. This partnership with DFZ Labs expands Skale’s presence in the web3 gaming sector and builds on previous partnerships such as its partnership with Moxy, a platform developed by Atari founder Nolan Bushnell.
Andrew Saunders, Chief Marketing and Growth Officer at Skale, expressed his enthusiasm for the partnership and pointed out that Death Touch marks a significant milestone in both his personal and professional life. “Deadfellaz was my first NFT, so I’m excited to see this community continue to innovate within Skale’s ecosystem,” he said.
Connecting blockchain and regular gamers
The Death Touch game combines the accessibility of mobile games with blockchain to engage both web2 and web3 users. DFZ Labs and Skale Labs want to make blockchain gaming more accessible by providing a gasless experience on Skale, especially for those new to web3.
The value of gasless infrastructure was highlighted by Deadfellaz co-founder Psych. “Our community has always valued immersive storytelling and innovative gameplay,” he said. With Skale’s help, we can reach more players, both casual and experienced web3 gamers.”
DFZ Labs and Skale Labs have an exciting partnership with the upcoming Death Touch. Scheduled for release in early 2025, the game aims to raise the bar for accessibility and engagement in blockchain gaming by fusing Skale’s scalable, gasless blockchain with Deadfellaz’s community-driven strategy.
