A special purpose acquisition company (SPAC) linked to cryptocurrency exchange Kraken is exploring potential deals with cryptocurrency companies worth $2 billion to $10 billion.
The move highlights Wall Street’s growing interest in companies connected to digital assets and blockchain infrastructure.
KRAK Acquisition Starts Search After $345 Million IPO
KRAK Acquisition Corp., a SPAC, raised about $345 million in its January initial public offering. Like other SPACs, the company aims to acquire private companies and take them public through a reverse merger.
In 2024, Kraken raised $800 million in funding, valuing the company at about $20 billion.
According to company director Ravi Tanuku, the company is currently looking at a number of potential targets across the cryptocurrency industry.
KRAK Acquisition targets companies valued between $2 billion and $10 billion, including mid-sized and emerging cryptocurrency companies.
We focus on stablecoins, DeFi, and tokenization.
KRAK Acquisition focuses on businesses operating in the fast-growing sectors of the cryptocurrency economy. This includes companies researching stablecoins, asset tokenization, decentralized finance (DeFi), and digital payment infrastructure.
Tanuku said institutional investors are increasingly aware of blockchain’s potential impact on global financial markets.
He added that Wall Street is increasingly willing to support companies working in this space.
According to Tanuku, the acquisition of KRAK will allow Kraken to build economic partnerships with promising cryptocurrency companies while helping them enter the public markets.
By backing a SPAC, Kraken signals that it plans to expand its influence across the broader cryptocurrency industry. Paper assets like Bitcoin are increasingly viewed by investors as an inflation hedge.
The KRAK acquisition is now two years away from completing the transaction, which is a typical deadline for SPAC structures. During that time, we will continue to review potential cryptocurrency companies that can attract public market investors.
