X-HOUR Virtual Reality Showcase Series Comes to Austin, Texas and Online During SXSW 2024, March 7-11 – Ryan Schultz
One of the participants, VenusSX, sent me a press release about this series showcasing the latest technologies in VR, which is being held separately from the actual SXSW 2024 conference in Austin, Texas, this week and weekend. This series ~ no part of an official SXSW event). According to the press release:
The organizers of the VR conference IMMERSIVE This series will showcase outstanding, award-winning VR projects from around the world. The hour-long session can be experienced on-site in Austin, in virtual reality, and via livestream. Registration is possible at https://immersive-x.de/x-hour.
Although the Metaverse is often presented as a vision of the distant future, many of its possibilities can be experienced today. This is possible thanks to the creative scene of pioneers around the world who have stepped up to explore these spaces and bring them to life with groundbreaking ideas and bold plans. The lineup includes the award-winning “Dragon Magic: Freedom Giants” by Juliana Loh and Mada de Leeuw, “Nymphs” by ShuShuVR and Niko Lang, and a live DJ set by XR pioneer Celeste Lear. Enables expression of cultural creativity. The “VR for Social Change” session will feature African VR campuses and centers to demonstrate how immersive technologies can foster social empowerment.
IMMERSIVE The selection of presenters is designed to give a vivid sense of the disruptive energy that virtual reality is having on the social and cultural sphere. “Immersive technologies will fundamentally change the way we experience content and interact with each other in the future,” said Thomas Zorbach, Managing Director of VM-people and founder of IMMERSIVE X. “As we enter the age of digital relationships, Metaverse is enabling new modes of creative expression and interaction, demonstrating the power of physical experiential learning in a virtual environment,” said VenusSX, virtual sensory designer and X-Hour session presenter. Unleash our potential: PlayroomSX and VR body experiences,” he added.
There are three ways to attend an X-HOUR session:
- Walk-in with a VR headset rental at the following location: Innovation Bridge Europe House at the Thompson Hotel, 4th Floor Rooftop, 506 San Jacinto Blvd, Austin, TX 78701, USA.
- Virtual reality with your own VR headset: If you have your own VR glasses, such as Quest 2, 3 & Pro, Pico Neo 2, or HTC Vive Focus, you can join sessions from a remote location.
- Live Streaming via YouTube: If you’re not in Austin and don’t have a VR headset, you can watch the X-HOUR sessions via live streaming. Location: https://www.youtube.com/@vmpeople
