My journey as an entrepreneur has unfolded in the ever-evolving IT space, pursuing new horizons and rejecting the old “go with the flow” mentality. Rejecting the allure of a typical civil service job, I ventured into the city to find my niche. Passion not only fills my cup, it has become the foundation of my entrepreneurial endeavors.
I realized the importance of learning before taking the lead and became immersed in the world of games. After honing my skills for a year at one studio and a year at another, I eventually gained the expertise to start my own indie game development journey.
A breakthrough occurred and my professional journey culminated with the creation of my own studio. Early success fueled further hiring and expansion through more than 100 games and amassing millions of downloads on mobile platforms.
But the story changed when, as we sought to diversify, we unintentionally turned our attention to our core competency: game development. In the third year, growth stagnated and some games were banned due to policy issues, ultimately leading to the company’s closure.
Looking back on the venture, three important lessons emerged for aspiring entrepreneurs in the IT field.
