Web3 TCG Skyweaver Reveals Big Plans for 2024

The release of Hearthstone in 2014 set a new standard for digital trading card games. The bar may have been raised once again. Skyweaver A genre-defining digital TCG experience.

This is exactly what I was talking about when Skyweaver launches its open beta in 2022. After a stellar 2023, Horizon Blockchain Games, developer of the popular web3 wallet and development platform Sequence, has revealed a series of plans to further develop its burgeoning web3 trading card game in 2024.

economic update

Skyweaver has a great gameplay experience, but as of now there are only three ways to earn money in-game. Silver Card, Gold Card, Conquest Ticket. This is scheduled to change from 2024.

Two new in-game currencies are coming soon. Spark and Weave.

Spark can be earned through a free Skypass and is used to craft non-blockchain base cards and participate in free tournaments.

Weave is acquired through the premium Skypass ($14.95 monthly fee) and is used to mint on-chain silver and gold cards, skins and cosmetics, as well as participate in premium events with larger prize pools.

According to community director Marcelo Suplicy, more details will be shared in January ahead of the launch of Spark and Weave later this year.

Card Rarity

Skyweaver’s cards fall into one of three tiers. Non-tradable basic cards, tradable silver and gold cards. In 2024, these features will be enhanced with the introduction of card rarities.

This system allows you to craft “rare” versions of cards by spending more Spark and/or Weave, creating a much more complex and complex market economy with highly desirable and rare versions of cards.

For example, the Gold Card is currently the most popular card on Skyweaver. If a gold card is of legendary rarity (i.e. the rarest possible card), the resources required to create it and the resulting rarity can make it incredibly popular and valuable to certain collectors.

There is no exact timeline yet for the introduction of card rarities, but it is expected to be released in 2024.

draft mode

Skyweaver currently has two main gameplay modes: Constructed – the standard “build and play your deck” experience and Discovery – a randomly assigned deck of cards each game. The latter is replaced by Draft, a staple game in the TCG genre.

Draft sees four players compete against each other using decks created from newly released packs. Over a series of rounds, players will choose one of eight basic dragon heroes, a deck of 32 cards, and a variety of events, which are deck modifiers that can influence which cards are chosen.

Players can use Spark to participate in the Daily Draft Ascent once per day, as well as a chance to win tickets to the Weekly Draft Cup, a qualifier for the Seasonal Draft Championship. Relic Drafts entered using Weave offer higher Weave rewards and contain tradable cards within the Draft that players will keep if selected.

Draft mode is scheduled to be introduced in Q1 2024.

2024 World Championships

Skyweaver’s competitive scene has been growing steadily over the past few years, with the first official World Championship scheduled for 2024.

Players can begin their journey to become a World Championship finalist by participating in daily Constructed or Draft tournaments starting in Q1 2024. This will allow top players to qualify for weekly cups with prizes including Weave, USDC and season championship tickets. The top players at each season’s championship will receive one of 32 coveted Worlds invitations, along with significant Weave and USDC prize money.

The 2024 World Championship will see the largest USDC prize pool in the game’s history, unique tradable items, and the opportunity to work with our talented art and design teams to design and/or feature Skyweaver cards.

In an environment of overhyped merchandise, tokenomics-first development, and a thirst to find the next top earner, Skyweaver’s game-first philosophy meant the game fell under the radar of many. However, in terms of gameplay quality, optimization, and overall improvements, this game is one of the best web3 games currently on the market.

After five years of continuous development, the Horizon team knows we can move with passion, purpose and conviction. And for the game, the team behind it, and the Web3 community as a whole, 2024 will be the world’s biggest year to date. Sky’s.
