Segment starts at approximately 1:35:20!

I woke up at 6:15 a.m. today to chat with the fine folks over at Yahoo Finance and talk about how the metaverse is poised to make a comeback in 2014. While I tried to explain that part, inevitably the topic centered around generative AI. , we are not yet clear how far Gen AI will scale. But looking at how the hundreds of millions of users of the Metaverse platform actually use it might help clarify that question.

Yahoo Finance articles, videos and transcripts are available here..

Here’s a New World Nots post about generative AI in the metaverse for supplementary material:

  • AI probably won’t hinder 3D world creation, argues veteran game artist
  • Will NVIDIA’s AI-powered NPCs make games more fun? This Star Wars: The Old Republic designer is concerned.
  • How artificial intelligence is transforming the Metaverse platform and challenging the creators who make a living from it

He also talked about the importance of Rec Room, the metaverse platform partnering with Apple for Vision Pro. Additionally, here’s a Q&A memo we sent to Yahoo Finance producers in preparation for the show.

Where do we stand in relation to the metaverse? Is it making a comeback?

The metaverse never went away. It’s just that the market and media focus too much on the meta. Mehta has never been a leader in this field. By 2024, the market is expected to become much more focused on companies that are actually leading the development of the metaverse. Specifically, Roblox, which currently has over 300 million monthly active users, and Epic’s Fortnite, which continues to expand its features and user growth in the mobile environment. The aftermath of Epic’s successful lawsuit against Google.

I’d like to point out that Epic’s victory over Google next year will see the Metaverse platform expand further into mobile in 2024, with the developer of the massive Grand Theft Auto franchise launching several new Metaverse platforms, including Everywhere. The overall market for the Metaverse platform currently has a conservative 600 million users and will likely approach 1 billion next year.
