Treasury officials confirmed that cryptocurrencies are not a popular tool for terrorists. They say they ‘prefer traditional products’.

U.S. Treasury Undersecretary Brian E. Nelson confirmed that terrorist use of cryptocurrencies is only a small part of established mechanisms for moving funds. He also acknowledged that “digital assets have not even been a popular tool for Hamas or Palestinian Islamic Jihad,” and that “Hamas is using cryptocurrencies on a relatively small scale.”
