Web3 gaming platform Treasure has moved away from its initial use of Arbitrum by launching its own Ethereum layer 2 scaling network with ZKsync.
The platform seeks to address game-specific needs and strengthen the ecosystem with customizable features for both developers and players.
To celebrate the launch, Treasure has introduced a “Decentralized Entertainment System: Cartridges” campaign, offering daily NFT mints based on games within the ecosystem.
Why is Treasure switching to ZKsync?
After evaluating its technology needs, Treasure decided to switch to ZKsync.
The company initially planned to continue using Arbitrum, but advancements in ZKsync features, including account abstraction and Elastic Network interoperability, prompted the change.
“After extensive evaluation prior to the launch of Layer 2, we found that ZKsync’s technology perfectly aligned with our vision to fundamentally transform the gaming industry,” said Kavel Vuong, co-founder of Treasure. “This change is not about what went wrong before, but about what’s right for Treasure’s future as we expand.”
What can we expect from this new blockchain?
Treasure’s new network is part of ZKsync’s Elastic Chain, a collection of interoperable zero-knowledge rollup chains. The platform’s $MAGIC token serves as the base currency, and more than 15 games, NFTs, and tokens will be migrated from Arbitrum using the Hyperlane bridge.
The network includes features such as gasless transactions, social account creation, and infrastructure designed for the gaming economy. This update aims to improve Treasure’s Game Exchange system, which facilitates asset trading, liquidity provision, and rewards within the game.
The Treasure Development Kit also simplifies blockchain integration for game developers by reducing the need for extensive smart contract knowledge and opening up new possibilities for game design and functionality. Players can also log in using an email, social account, or cryptocurrency wallet activated through ZKsync’s account abstraction feature.
