To the Shipyard – Exploring the Ship Framework in Star Atlas | Star Atlas | Star Atlas | August 2024
The time has come to receive your ship’s airlift, and the ship, along with its crew, will receive a special bundle of components as a tribute to their early support of Star Atlas! Learn all about how to pave the way for the new ship framework in the metaverse below.
As we explained Previous articleOn August 8th, ATMTA will take a snapshot of players’ current ship holdings and will grant them eligibility for Crew Packs and Component Bundles based on the number and type of ships they owned at the time of the snapshot.
In this article, we’ll go into more detail about component bundles, the direct impact of their airdrop at this stage in game development, and how they’ll play a key role in kickstarting the ship building paradigm in the future, allowing players to customize their ship parts with custom crafted items.
If you are interested in how to participate in crew packs and airdrops, read on for a detailed tutorial. here.
So without further ado, let’s take a look at how component bundles will lead to a new ship paradigm.
The component bundle is a free airdrop bonus for all players who own a Star Atlas ship during the August 8 snapshot. Every ship owned by a player will receive a SFT component bundle for that ship. This bundle comes with a top-tier weapon and top-tier ship parts, and can be converted into individual base components after deploying the full ship configuration protocol. However, the SFT bundle will be tradable on the Galactic Market immediately after the airdrop.
Below you can see the different layers of components for each bundle type.
After the snapshot date, no other ships will be eligible to receive component bundle airdrops.
The most important aspect of this event is that all ships traded on the market after the snapshot will become ship hulls. Ship hulls are a standard Star Atlas asset, and acquiring one will grant you the following items by default:
- Tier 0 Core Components – The basic components required for a ship to function are: power core, shield generators, hull reinforcements, warp drive, auxiliary engines, main thrusters, heat shields, scanner arrays, and tractor beams.
- Utility equipment — Utility equipment is a part of the ship that is tied to the purpose of the ship and cannot be replaced or upgraded. They are part of the ship’s specialization and are standard, so ships that need them will have them before and after the airlift. For example, mining ships like the Armstrong IMP will always have mining equipment, and they do not require any purchase or action. Utility equipment is part of the ship’s hull and cannot be traded on the Marketplace.
- Internal elements — Internal elements, another non-replaceable or non-upgradable segment of the ship, constitute the core elements of the ship’s hull, such as crew quarters, command deck, etc. Therefore, these elements are not affected by airlift in any way.
Nevertheless it It is important to know After the airlift, the hulls no Comes with:
- weapon — Offensive ship components such as laser beams, missile bays, and turret hardpoints used in ship combat.
- Module — Additional parts that can be replaced but not upgraded provide various benefits to your ship, allowing you to further customize your ship. Examples of these include cargo modules, fuel modules, and ammunition modules.
- ship — The personnel required to maintain and run the ship’s functions during space exploration. Click here to learn more about crew. After the airlift, you will need to maintain the ship and secure crew for use in SAGE.
The hull price of all Galactic Asset Offering ships currently on the market and those to be released in the future. We follow our vessel pricing model and charge the same price as our current vessels..
As previously mentioned, all airlifted ship components and crews are early adopter bonuses. We will not make any adjustments to lower prices after the drop, and we will not offer ships with bundles at a higher price in the future. ATMTA will also not sell component bundles or base components, as these items will be acquired through gameplay or player crafting in the future.
Ship statistics currently visible in SAGE/Fleet Command will reflect the ship as if it had all the equipment included in the SFT bundle, regardless of bundle ownership.
Nonetheless, as we will explain now, It will affect your ship’s performance Once our ship configuration protocol comes online.
Currently, all ships of the same model in Star Atlas share the same in-game statistics. For example, all Busan Maidenhearts, one of our capital fighter ships, have the same warp range, fuel consumption, and cargo capacity.
That means all Star Atlas ships are currently semi-fungible tokens. But that won’t be the case in the future. The Component Bundles airdrop paves the way for a new and exciting ship standard: the Ship Configuration Protocol.
Once Ship Configurations are implemented, Star Atlas ships will become NFTs, allowing players to customize and upgrade ship components to suit their game strategy.
In this new paradigm, six different assets affect the ship’s functionality and overall performance, some of which are replaceable or upgradeable. To make it easier for captains, we’ve broken down how they work in the diagram below.
Once the protocol is activated, you can open the bundle and equip the upgraded components, weapons, and modules. The ship’s statistics will then reflect the type and tier of the components you have equipped on the ship.
Tier 0 core components cannot be removed from your ship, so they cannot be traded. They can simply be overwritten by a higher tier item. When you remove a component, Tier 0 will reappear, so you will never have an empty slot.
Another interesting aspect of this new update is that it creates a new market for players’ industries.
Weapons, core components, and modules are all interchangeable items that affect the performance of your ship. The only way to acquire ship parts other than airlift is through the in-game crafting loop, which allows the Galia Expanse supply chain to adapt and absorb the demand.
Additionally, core components and weapons can also be upgraded, creating yet another industry that helps players achieve their best results while exploring the galaxy.
Nonetheless, the impact of ship configuration extends far beyond the economic cycle of Star Atlas.
The various shipbuilding strategies also affect military-centric game loops such as space ship battles, starbase sieges, and claim stake raids. The same applies to other activities that rely on ship performance such as racing and exploration.
Shipbuilding opens the door to a whole new level of immersion in the gaming ecosystem. Now, step into this new Star Atlas paradigm with the airdrop of component bundles.
