mock melee is a new PvP automatic chess game created by Mystic Moose and recently published on Kongregate.com.
Featuring a unique art style and fun gameplay, Mojo Melee combines real-time strategy and intelligent team tactics to create a truly immersive experience for players of all experience levels.
Mojo Melee is also Kongregate’s first attempt at publishing web3 games that were not developed in-house. But with Kongregate leading the way with new technologies enabling Web3 gaming, Mojo Melee fits the Kongregate brand perfectly.
We sat down with Mystic Moose CEO Michael Levine and Marketing Director Ted Newell to get additional insight into this new and exciting project.
Creating a Mojo Melee Experience
“The inspiration for Mojo Melee came from recognizing a distinct gap in the automated chess market,” explained CEO Mike Levine. “Many existing games felt too wordy and generally tailored to attract hardcore gamers, leaving a significant number of casual players feeling left out. The goal (with Mojo Melee) was to design a game that is streamlined and faster to play. It applies to all types of gamers.”
Featuring 1v1 duels and 8-player multiplayer battle modes, Mojo Melee’s gameplay offers a fresh and nuanced experience that adds a new dimension to classic auto chess gameplay.
“Players can expect rich and rewarding gameplay that accommodates a wide range of skill levels (…). From highly detailed character designs to customization features, the game has a variety of elements to keep players engaged. . Explore competitive ladders, unlock special achievements, and even participate in seasonal events.”
stand out from the crowd
What truly sets Mojo Melee apart is its focus on community and inclusivity.
“The team that designed this game designed it to please both hardcore gamers who want a challenging game and casual players who want a fast, fun experience,” said Ted Newell, Director of Marketing.
“This commitment to balance and fairness is made possible through a data-driven approach through continuous iteration based on player feedback and behavior. Mojo Melee is more than just a game. It is a living, evolving universe.”
The Art of Mojo Melee
Mojo Melee’s captivating art style plays a key role in bringing the game’s captivating atmosphere to life.
“The art style was born out of a desire to create a world that was visually striking enough to grab the attention. We wanted a style that was in tune with the game’s mysterious and whimsical nature,” said Levine.
The design encapsulates the magical nature of the world and sets the tone for the game’s broader themes of competition, camaraderie, and environmental awareness.
From character sketches to captivating surroundings, every detail has been crafted to grab players’ attention and immerse them in the world of Planet Mojo.
Mojo Melee and Kongregate
The decision to bring Mojo Melee to Kongregate was a strategic one, as the platform aligns perfectly with the vision for the game.
“Kongregate is a platform that has consistently supported innovative indie games and fostered a thriving gaming community,” said Levine. “The visibility and dedicated user base that Kongregate provides seemed like the perfect place to introduce our games to a wider audience who would appreciate the unique aspects of our games.”
Development challenges and player-centric approach
Mojo Melee development presented challenges, especially when integrating web3 technology.
“Creating a game that runs smoothly on a variety of platforms is no easy task, especially when incorporating web3 technology. We wanted the web3 aspect to be as seamless as possible for new players and give them the option to engage. We ensured this. A lot of effort has been put into doing that. The web3 side is at the end of the funnel and is treated as a reward and doesn’t provide any competitive advantage.”
A player-centric approach is at the heart of Mojo Melee’s development process. Newell emphasized: “We place tremendous value on player feedback. We take a multi-pronged approach to gathering insights, from AMAs to detailed community surveys. These insights are then fed directly into our development cycle to help us These are improvements and additions that people actually want to see.”
A message for aspiring developers and Kongregate enthusiasts
The developer’s advice to developers considering creating web3 games is clear.
“First, understand how blockchain can truly add value to the gaming ecosystem, rather than simply using it as a marketing vehicle. We believe the web3 of games is important to empower players, but that is not a headline in itself. I don’t think it should be a feature.”
For those considering Kongregate, the platform offers incredible resources in the form of an active and engaged community. It’s a fantastic place for indie developers to get the visibility and user engagement they need to succeed. Web-based games allow players to jump directly into the game with few obstacles.
Community and Future Plans: Active Player Ecosystem
The Mojo Melee community is an integral part of the game’s success. The developers have put in place regular AMAs, update logs, and social media campaigns to keep players informed and engaged. The Discord server is a hub of activity with a store, points system, and ongoing events for players.
With Mojo Melee, developers can now seamlessly integrate the two communities on Kongregate, enriching their games and communities with diverse perspectives and feedback.
“We’re excited to introduce Mojo Melee to Kongregate. We can’t wait for you to experience this unique combination of automated chess gameplay and community features for yourself. Whether you’re here to climb the competitive ranks or just enjoy the game. , we can provide something to meet your needs. Your participation is not just about playing a game, it is about becoming part of a community and a journey we are all on together.”
