Stratton Studios has announced the development of PGA Tour Rise, a blockchain-based golf game developed in partnership with the PGA Tour and Chain Games.
The game is scheduled to launch in 2026, will be available on mobile devices and web browsers, and will feature real-time competitive play, with the option for players to collect and trade digital golf assets in the form of NFTs.
Ahead of the official launch, players can expect to see a variety of minigames introduced, with the first of these expected to be released in late 2024.
What is PGA Tour Rise?
PGA Tour Rise is an upcoming interactive golf game that integrates blockchain technology.
Designed for both mobile devices and web browsers, the game features real-time competitive gameplay on famous golf courses, with players competing to climb the leaderboards while earning in-game currency called ‘Rise Bucks’, which can be used to upgrade equipment and characters.
The game allows players to collect and trade digital assets, including NFT golf equipment and memorabilia.
“The TOUR looks forward to working with Stratton Studios and Chain Games to continue to connect and engage with golf enthusiasts and gamers alike,” said Matt Iofredo, PGA TOUR Vice President of Licensing and Merchandising. “Working with these two innovative organizations to integrate web3 technology into golf games is pushing the boundaries of what’s possible in sports gaming.”
Partnerships and Development
A series of minigames will be introduced ahead of the full launch in 2026, with the first minigame expected to be released in late 2024.
While specifics on the first minigame were not revealed, the announcement hinted at several possibilities, including a hole-in-one challenge, a precision putting contest, and a long drive contest.
“We are excited to partner with the PGA TOUR to create a game that captures the essence of professional golf while leveraging the potential of Web3 technology,” said Jay Klauminzer, CEO of Stratton Studios. “Partnering with Chain Games as a publisher gives us the expertise and support we need to deliver an innovative game that is not only fun, but also technologically advanced.”
“Partnering with Stratton Studios and the PGA TOUR allows us to showcase blockchain technology to the masses in a fun and engaging way,” added Adam Barlam, Founder and CTO of Chain Games. “This project is a testament to our team’s spirit of innovation, and we’re excited to create a gaming experience that will resonate with fans around the world.”
