Solana is the top choice for 70% of AI projects: Report

AI-powered assistants are choosing Solana more than ever, attracted by its ability to scale seamlessly and reduce costs.

According to a recent report from Franklin Templeton, 70% of AI-based virtual assistants, known as AI agents, have chosen to operate on the Solana (SOL) blockchain. This preference is primarily due to Solana’s ability to process large volumes of transactions efficiently and at low cost.

These AI agents are sophisticated tools that transform the way we manage operations within the crypto sector by performing tasks, making decisions, and interacting with people and digital systems.

An interesting example of such an AI agent is the Truth Terminal project AI chatbot, which initially gained fame on Twitter by promoting a fictional religion called the “goat gospel.” In July 2024, it attracted public attention after receiving a large amount of Bitcoin (BTC) donation from Marc Andreessen, a famous venture capitalist from Andreessen Horowitz.

Truth Terminal’s influence further expanded as it actively promoted and boosted Goatseus Maximus (GOAT), a Solana-based meme coin that achieved a market capitalization of approximately $1.22 billion as of November 16, 2024. As of January 15th, GOAT is trading at $0.338. The market capitalization is $338 million.

Zerebro (ZEREBRO), which also operates on Solana, creates AI-based music and NFTs with the help of the open-source ZerPy framework that helps customize AI agents. Another promising project, ARC, is a high-performance platform running on Solana that allows for rule-based AI agents, virtual assistants that help users make decisions or take actions.

Griffain is another project working on custom AI agents, while ai16z deploys Solana to handle AI-assisted interactions in venture capital through the ElizaOS framework.

Early this month, January 2nd. Binance has launched perpetual contracts for GRIFFAIN, ai16z (AI16Z), and ZEREBRO. In the last 24 hours, GRIFFAIN is up more than 19%, AI16Z is up more than 14%, and ZEREBRO is up more than 4%, reflecting strong optimism about Solana-based AI coins.

Most AI agents are still in their early stages. The AI token market capitalization was $3.95 billion as of January 15, accounting for only 0.11% of the total cryptocurrency market capitalization.

However, some Solana-funded projects have already gained significant popularity, increasing the total AI token market cap by 14.5% in one day, according to CoinGecko. For example, Zerebro released a music album, and another AI agent, Dolos Diary, garnered millions of views on TikTok.

In addition to these AI agent projects, notable growth has also been seen in Virtual Protocol (VIRTUAL), the AI agent launchpad on Ethereum (ETH). It reached a market capitalization of $4.62 billion on January 1, 2025, but declined to $1.92 billion in 2025. of this article. Interestingly, Virtuals Protocol’s aixbt (AIXBT), which operates on both Base and Solana, is up 45.2% in the last 24 hours, according to CoinGecko.

While some skeptics in the blockchain community suggest that the hype around AI agents is more marketing than technology, integrating these agents into Solana will leverage the performance and price accessibility of the Solana ecosystem to enhance functionality and user experience. Because of this, it becomes more active.
