Ronin proposes zkEVM integration to improve blockchain scalability for gaming.

Ronin, the gaming EVM blockchain, has announced a proposal to integrate the zero-knowledge Ethereum Virtual Machine (zkEVM) into the Ronin protocol to improve Ronin’s scalability.

Phuc Thai, principal researcher at Ronin, emphasized that after evaluating various methods, including optimistic, zero-knowledge (ZK) aggregation and modularization, the most suitable scaling solution for Ronin is zkEVM.

Ronin plans to integrate ZK provers into the protocol and provide ZK rollups as a service to external developers. This initiative is called Enshrined zkEVM. Additionally, allowing validators to initiate ZK rollups allows developers to remain on the platform when transactions on Ronin exceed block space capacity rather than seeking out a separate blockchain.

Additionally, integrating zkEVM into the Ronin protocol simplifies the startup of zkEVM layer 2 on Ronin, allowing game studios to set up validator nodes to initiate rollups. As a result, users on Layer 2 can pay transaction fees to game studios’ validators to provide rewards to studios and delegators, and coordinate rewards between delegators, validators, users, builders, and RON token holders.

Ronin also plans to enhance several decentralized applications such as Katana Decentralized Exchange (DEX) and Mavis Market to avoid high slippage fees during swaps. These distributed applications allow bridging between rollups. Ronin also plans to introduce a Cross-Chain Relay Service to support cross-chain transaction relaying.

Ronin Blockchain Designed for Web3 Gaming Surges in Daily Users with Scalability Efforts

Ronin is an Ethereum Virtual Machine (EVM) compatible blockchain strategically built for Web3 gaming purposes. Created by Sky Mavis, creator of Axie Infinity, Ronin set out to change the blockchain game by solving critical problems with Ethereum, including gas fees and transaction speeds. Ronin currently manages up to 100,000 transactions per second (TPS) and operates based on a Delegated Proof of Stake (DPoS) consensus mechanism.

Recently, the blockchain recorded approximately 1.2 million daily active users. The project team believes that by implementing ZK rollups, additional scalability can be achieved to accommodate larger numbers of users.
