Reebok launches digital wearables in Metaverse

Reebok will transition into the metaverse as it works to expand opportunities for consumers to interact with its products, from shoes to apparel.

This will accelerate in 2024, starting with the premiere of “Reebok Impact,” which seeks to create a digital footwear experience that “captures hearts and minds.”

As you can see somewhat clearly in the video below, the experience will utilize various elements of AI, web3, gaming, and metaverse technologies.

Reebok has teamed up with Futureverse to embark on a metaverse adventure, promising to be just the first step in a “long-term” partnership.

Next steps include the addition of new features, integrations, and experiences.

Digging deeper into the partnership, Reebok CEO Todd Krinskysaid:

Our partnership with Futureverse and the upcoming launch of Reebok Impact allows us to engage consumers in the digital evolution of our products in ways that push the traditional boundaries of innovation and redefine the realm of the possible.

Reebok follows a well-trodden path, with Adidas, Nike, and Puma taking similar steps to enable digital wearables in the metaverse.

Nike was far ahead. In fact, the company even launched Nikeland, a “micro-metaverse” built within the Roblox ecosystem.

But more moves have been made to embrace the crazy world of XR.

For example, we launched the SWOOSH Web3 community platform, opened an XR concept store in Seoul, and in 2021 acquired a leading studio that designs NFT artwork.

but, Shara Senderoff and Aaron McDonald, co-founders of FutureverseWe believe our work with Reebox will prove pioneering.

In a joint statement, they said, “We are thrilled to announce our exclusive partnership with Reebok, a testament to our shared belief that life is a journey of active participation, not observation.

“This is an invitation to consumers into a world where their digital footprint is just as important as their physical footprint.

Together, we are pioneering digital possibilities where every step tells a story and every story shapes the world.

Futureverse is a new company with market momentum consisting of 11 metaverse infrastructure and creative content companies.

Since launching last year, it has already built one of the largest and most active Metaverse communities in the world.

Additionally, many gaming titles have utilized AI-enabled digital collectibles, including the FIFA-backed “AI League” sports sensation.

So it’s perhaps no surprise that it caught the eye of Reebok and secured a $54 million Series A investment round to build its AI metaverse.

But now, by partnering with Reebok, it will have to compete in an increasingly competitive space.

Recent interesting moves include a “first-of-its-kind” Metaverse experience from L’Oréal and Jack Daniel’s, which developed a Metaverse showroom over the course of a month.
