nChain’s Christine Leong talks about digital identity in Web3 on CoinGeek Backstage.

Digital identity is the foundation of Web3, believes Christine Leong. nChain CIO gave a presentation on digital identity at GITEX Global in Dubai. CoinGeek Backstage caught up with her to discuss how nChain is leading the Web3 era.

“My presentation was about the importance of owning your data, how blockchain can play a role in transforming Web3, and how blockchain can leverage Web3 use cases such as gaming,” she said.

As the world becomes more digital, data becomes increasingly important and valuable. This makes data ownership important. Once you own it, you are free to choose what you share, with whom you share it, and what opportunities you have to make money. According to Leong, none of this is possible without a digital identity.

“The only way to own and control your data is to have a strong digital identity,” Leong told CoinGeek Backstage.

Digital identities are only possible if they are proven secure and users have complete control over their data, “and this can only be achieved through blockchain technology.”

Leong has been attending GITEX conferences for over 20 years and described GITEX as “a hub for all technology organizations.” At the event, she led the nChain delegation and interacted with partners and potential new customers while learning about important developments in other fields.

As for nChain’s future, Leong said the blockchain company is focused on building Teranode with the BSV Association. As CoinGeek reported, the BSV Association began testing the technology for Teranode last month. With Teranode, the BSV blockchain will be able to process up to 1.1 million transactions per second, making it the most efficient network in the world.

In addition to building Teranode, nChain’s ongoing projects include digital identity solutions for customers and on-chain document signing, Leong added.
