Today, Kitely’s “Mega World” regional package is back on sale for $90 per month for a limited time, the company announced.

“Mega Worlds” are variable-sized regions of 64 standard regions, holding up to 150,000 primitives. They cost about $1.40 per standard region per month.

We also have dedicated servers.

The downside? It’s only available to the first 25 customers who order.

The deal comes on the heels of Kitely’s recent performance upgrade that slashed global startup times, and in May, Kitely rolled out an upgrade that doubled regional performance.

Mega Worlds normally costs $120 a month, and the last time Mega Worlds had a sale was four years ago.

Most OpenSim grid and hosting providers keep their operating costs manageable and their prices affordable by cramming lots of different-sized regions into each server and running multiple different-sized regions on each OpenSim instance, said Ilan Tocher, CEO of Kitely.

“This can be problematic, because if your region shares server resources with a lot of other regions, things happening in other regions can cause things to run slowly,” he said. Hypergrid business.

Kitely uses a different strategy, and instead of having many variable-sized regions on each server, which they call “worlds”, they automatically start a world when you enter one, and close it when it becomes empty.

This allows Kitely to run each world on its own OpenSim instance and deploy up to four worlds on each server. This allows Kitely to provide significantly more server resources to each actively used world than other OpenSim grids provide, providing a better in-world experience for customers while maintaining a competitive price.

What is unique about Mega Worlds is that they do not share servers. When a Mega World is activated, it always gets its own full server, so it can use all the resources of the server without being affected by other people’s worlds. This means that Mega Worlds can run larger worlds than other worlds, and have more scripts and visitors.
