Jaguar Land Rover partners with Tata Communications to integrate AI into manufacturing processes

British car manufacturer Jaguar Land Rover (JLR) has partnered with Indian digital infrastructure provider Tata Communications to drive digital transformation that will redefine the future of modern luxury vehicles and driving experiences.

As part of the partnership, Tata Communications will deploy cloud-first software-defined wide area network (SD-WAN) across 128 global JLR sites to enhance supply chain efficiency and security. It aims to enable connectivity, efficiency and security across JLR’s global headquarters, manufacturing plants, warehouses, sales centres, data centers and cloud services.

Tata Communications has already started implementing its network transformation program and plans to complete it by 2025.

“This is an exciting step in the digital transformation of our business, leveraging the technology and capabilities of Tata Communications to leapfrog our network into the future,” said Tony Battle, Chief Digital and Information Officer, JLR Group.

“Moving to SD-WAN means we can use AI-based automation to predict vulnerabilities, proactively intervene, prevent issues, and perform more effectively across our network and at a global scale. Our cutting-edge connectivity platform will help us build the world-class ecosystem needed to deliver modern luxury vehicles and incredible driving experiences,” Battle added.

AI-Driven Efficiency Powers Manufacturing

The goal of this collaboration is to strengthen the production of JLR’s next-generation vehicles by integrating real-time data analysis of production lines and AI for predictive risk management to mitigate disruptions to the manufacturing process and ensure efficient production lines.

This helps reduce manufacturing disruptions, speed up upgrade times, and reduce costs.

“Tata Communications is deploying a ‘digital fabric’ comprised of agile infrastructure, platforms and managed services. It helps integrate JLR’s systems, people, suppliers, stakeholders and customers globally and provides seamless data flow to strengthen key aspects. business ecosystem,” said Sumeet Walia, Vice President and Chief Sales and Marketing Officer, Tata Communications.

It will also help JLR implement AI-based real-time data capture, monitoring and analysis on its production lines. This helps you optimize performance, identify bottlenecks, and ultimately improve the overall efficiency of your manufacturing process.

It is important to note that Tata Communications’ MOVE platform already powers connected automotive solutions for over 600,000 JLR vehicles in over 100 markets.

In line with its commitment to sustainability, the partnership aims to digitally transform JLR’s next-generation vehicle production line through a shared vision between the companies where innovation and environmental responsibility can coexist.
