The tremendous theft of 127,426 Bitcoin (BTC) of Lubian, which was discovered in 2020, was found in 2020, causing concern in the encryption community because the hacker still owns more than four years after the incident.

According to a new report from Arkham Intelligence, the $ 3.5 billion -stolen BTC Stash is now worth more than $ 14 billion.

It is not only the largest encryption raid in history, but also one of the longest cases. Lubian, which controlled almost 6%of the Bitcoin network hasher in May 2020, has never publicly disclosed a violation.

Inside the largest encryption attack

As Arkham tracked, hacking occurred on December 28, 2020 and more than 90% of Lubian’s BTC stake. Arkham suggested that Lubian used an unstable algorithm to create a private key and became vulnerable to indiscriminate attacks.

The day after the attack, the Rubian connection address lost $ 6 million in Bitcoin and USDT in Bitcoin Omni Layer.

On December 31, Lubian now moved the remaining 11,886 Bitcoin to a recovery wallet of about $ 1.3 billion.

After hacking, the company broadcast a message from 1,516 Bitcoin transactions that requested the return of the stolen funds and spent 1.4 Bitcoin on the process.

Since the integration of the wallet in July 2024, the hacker’s 127,426 BTC storage has not been maintained, while Lubian’s stake is 11,886 BTC. Unknown Exploit rose to 13th among the best BTC holders and notorious MT. I surpassed the GOX hacker.

Rubia stopped mining in early 2021

Hacking can be explained in the early 2021 Bitcoin network why Lubian disappeared quietly. Given the company’s secret operation, it is not surprising to disappear rather than disclosing the previous high -end miners’ violations.

According to Mempool.Space’s data, Lubian’s last known mining activity occurred when mining Bitcoin Block 672,636 on March 1, 2021.

At the time, the industry observers speculated that the interruption was related to the clamp down of China and Iran’s encryption mining. The area was considered an active region of Rubian.

In May 2021, China announced a crackdown on Bitcoin mining and transactions, followed by several provinces that ordered the closure of mining operation by June.

In September 2021, the Chinese authorities announced a national notice nationwide to declare cryptocurrency mining as “useless” industries, and enacted entirely for both mining and transactions.
