Tech company Google announced that its generative AI-powered design platform, Stitch, has evolved into an AI-powered software design canvas. The updated system is designed to translate natural language prompts into high-fidelity user interface designs that allow users to create, iterate, and collaborate.
The “vibe design” concept within Stitch allows you to quickly explore different ideas with the goal of producing higher quality results. Instead of starting with a traditional wireframe, you can begin the process with a description of your business goals, desired user experience, or sources of inspiration.
A new AI-powered design canvas is introduced with a redesigned interface with infinite workspace to support the entire design lifecycle, from initial concept to functional prototype. Canvas is designed to accept a variety of inputs, including images, text, and code, allowing it to be used as contextual elements within a single workspace.
A new design agent has been integrated to analyze and reason about the overall progress of the project. Along with this, we’ve introduced an Agent Manager to help you track progress and manage multiple parallel design directions while staying organized.
The introduction of DESIGN.md expands the design system toolkit by allowing you to extract design systems from existing URLs or export and import design rules from multiple tools using agent-compatible Markdown files. This approach allows you to reuse designs across projects without having to recreate primitives each time.
Introduction to real-time iteration and interactive prototyping for faster design workflows
The platform emphasizes rapid iteration by converting static designs into interactive prototypes in real time. Users can quickly connect screens and immediately preview the user flow, and the system generates logical next steps based on their interactions. This gives you instant feedback to continuously improve design elements or your entire workflow.
Collaboration is positioned as a core component of the platform, with AI serving as an integrated partner throughout the design process.
Vibe Design with Voice Interaction introduces the ability to communicate directly with Canvas through voice input. The system can provide real-time feedback, create new layouts through guided dialogue, and implement real-time updates in response to instructions such as “Give me three different menu options” or “Show me this screen with a different color palette.” This interaction model is intended to support creative exploration through ongoing dialogue.
The system also facilitates the transition from design to development through integrations such as MCP, technology, and export capabilities. The Stitch MCP Server and SDK allow users to connect to external tools and workflows, including exporting designs to developer environments such as AI Studio and Antigravity. This integration is intended to maintain consistency between design, AI support, and development processes.
The platform is presented as a tool that aims to reduce the time needed to move from concept to execution, helping both professional designers and early-stage founders accelerate the development of software ideas.
