Gods Unchained introduces new format and gameplay changes

Gods Unchained recently released a major update that includes the introduction of two new game formats and an overhaul of the Daily Play Earnings (DPE) system.

These changes aim to change the way players engage with the game, focusing specifically on strategic deck building under certain conditions.

Additionally, the final patch for the Dread Awakening event has been released, marking the end of this phase of the game’s development.

Introduction of a new format

Over the past two weeks, Gods Unchained has introduced two time-limited game formats designed to challenge players with specific deck composition restrictions.

The first format, known as Flashback: Divine Order, ran from August 20 to August 22 and required players to build decks using limited cards from the Welcome, Core, Genesis, Etherbot, Trials of the Gods, and Divine Order sets.

This format introduced certain rules that required strategic adaptation from players. These included applying the current seed rank, reflecting progress in the regular game, and only allowing those with a seed rank of 7 or higher to participate. Players were prevented from being demoted below rank 7, promo cards were banned, and the DPE modifier was set to 1.5.

The second format will be introduced on August 26 and will run until August 30. It will follow the same basic rules as the first format, but will include community challenges where players will submit decks to the official Gods Unchained Discord channel, with the chosen winners being featured on the format’s Wall of Fame.

Revamped daily play revenue system

This update also includes changes to the Daily Performance Earnings (DPE) system.

The DPE modifiers that affect the number of shards a player earns after winning a match have been adjusted to better reflect the player’s rank and the quality of their deck. For example, the rarest Mythic card in the Gods Unchained world has been increased in value from 125 to 250 within the Deck Modifier system.

Shard acquisition is now restricted to players who have reached at least Rank 7. This was introduced to limit the influence of bots at lower ranks and provide better rewards for dedicated players. This adjustment aims to reduce the influence of automated bots and ensure that active, high-ranked players receive appropriate rewards.

The final patch for Dread Awakening

In addition to the new format and DPE changes, the final patch for the Dread Awakening event has been released, which includes updates to the Dreadtouch mechanic and other gameplay improvements.

This patch marks the end of updates for Dread Awakening due to its unique design approach within the game. Final adjustments have been made to improve the event and address any remaining issues.

Future events will focus on new thematic designs that better fit the evolving gameplay.
