G7 considers massive oil release as prices surge

G7 countries are considering jointly releasing up to 400 million barrels of oil from their strategic oil reserves to ease soaring energy prices. This move could be coordinated by the International Energy Agency. So far, three G7 countries, including the United States, have expressed support for this plan. U.S. officials believe a joint release of 300 million to 400 million barrels could help stabilize the market. G7 countries currently have reserves of about 1.2 billion barrels. After this news broke, oil prices fell below $108 per barrel.
