Ember Sword moves from Immutable X to Mantle Network

Bright Star Studios has announced that its web3 MMORPG, Ember Sword, will be migrating from the Immutable X protocol to Mantle Network, a layer 2 solution for Ethereum.

This strategic shift aims to increase player control over in-game assets and streamline the onboarding process for all users.

This move follows Polygon’s move to Immutable X, and marks another major shift in the game’s infrastructure.

What does this move mean for players?

The transition to Mantle may require players to transfer their in-game assets to the new protocol.

While specifics on the migration process weren’t provided, Bright Star Studios has experience with similar transitions, having previously migrated from Polygon Network to Immutable X, and players should expect a methodical process that could take several weeks, similar to the last migration.

“By integrating Mantle’s advanced blockchain capabilities, we are improving the way players control their in-game assets and providing an unprecedented onboarding experience for all gamers who love MMORPGs – whether they’re web3 native or not,” said Mark Laursen, Founder and CEO of Bright Star Studios.

Key Features and Improvements

A major improvement during the transition was the integration of Mantle’s modular Ethereum rollup technology.

The technology is designed to ensure secure, scalable, and low-fee transactions within Ember Sword, allowing players to easily participate in the game economy without high transaction costs or delays.

“Working with Mantle will allow us to create more productive and engaging player economies,” said Joris Huijbregts, Founder and Chief Development Officer at Bright Star Studios. “We’re excited to integrate with the best-in-class tools and partners within the Mantle Ecosystem to create scalable and sustainable user journeys for our players. This is the future of gaming, with player engagement and control over in-game items at the forefront.”

The migration is also expected to streamline the onboarding process, making it more accessible to players who are not familiar with blockchain technology. The collaboration also reflects a broader trend in the gaming industry to integrate blockchain technology to enhance the player experience.

“Their vision of creating highly accessible, player-centric, blockchain-based games aligns perfectly with our mission to enable more gamers to enjoy enhanced experiences powered by blockchain technology,” added Geezee, Head of Games at Mantle.
