El Salvador’s President Humorously Responds to Bitcoin Critic U.S. Senator Menendez

Menendez and his wife were indicted on 18 new counts. Nayib Bukele responded to Menendez in a humorous way. Because it was Menendez who criticized El Salvador’s Bitcoin policy several times.

El Salvador was the first country in the world to adopt Bitcoin as fiat currency in September 2021. The country currently holds 2,856 BTC in its national reserve fund. Under the leadership of El Salvador’s President Nayib Bukele, El Salvador entered the Bitcoin mining business and also launched several Bitcoin-related operations to help people understand the basics of Bitcoin and further their Bitcoin adoption journey. We made it possible for you to participate deeply.

Bukele has come under heavy criticism several times from various figures for his Bitcoin adoption policy in El Salvador, but each time he has blindly ignored the haters.

U.S. Senator Menendez is one of the prominent critics of El Salvador’s Bitcoin policy, having repeatedly called Bitcoin a corruption tool for bad actors in El Salvador.

Eighteen new charges have been filed against Senator Menendez and his wife Nadine Menendez. The charges accuse them of conspiring to obstruct justice and conceal bribe payments previously alleged against senators.

In that case, investigators seized $100,000 in gold bars and $480,000 in hidden cash from the senator’s home.

This was a great moment for Bukele to respond to Bitcoin critics. Bukele simply responded to the news with a laughing emoji.

Prosecutors discovered that they had instructed their solicitors to inform investigators that certain payments made on Nadine’s behalf were loans that were deliberately disguised as bribes.

The U.S. senator is known to have received many gifts, including luxury watches and gold bars, in return for helping Uribe and the governments of Egypt and Qatar.

FYI, Bukele only responded with a laughing emoji and offered no comment. Perhaps that’s because so far Menendez has not been found guilty on any of the charges and a trial is scheduled for May.
