Chicken Invasion!

The story behind Bit Heroes Quest

Bit Heroes Quest is a universe full of unexpected events. A place where ordinary things become special. Whether you’re wielding a sword made out of watermelon or riding a pink shark as your mount, Bit Heroes Quest makes it all possible!

So it’s no surprise that a legendary new tribe has landed in Zone 20. Big Claw Land just got bigger… And Claw-ier!

To find out the inspiration behind this new Zone’s lore, we caught up with a special guest on the development team: Zone 20’s Lore Master.

With their help, we will learn more about the creation of the new zone Big Claw Land and what will happen in the Invasion of the Bird Tribe.

So, Lore Master, can you tell us about your role in Beat Heroes Quest?

I’m especially proud to be the Story Master for Bit Heroes Quest at Zone 20. My passion is creating immersive stories and compelling characters, as well as developing connections between games and the Bitverse.

But my involvement doesn’t end there! I also have other responsibilities within Bit Heroes Quest to align with the needs and vision of the game.

Do you think the unpredictability of Beat Heroes Quest helps make each area themed so differently?

clearly. One of my favorite things about Bit Heroes Quest is its sense of humor and craziness. In theory, you could create crazy places that wouldn’t fit in the same universe, but we have them.

A land full of gladiators, priests, and space pirates? That’s the galactic test. The secret location of the party rocker gods? This is the Olympic Secret Party. A forbidden land in a desolate place with cosmic mysteries and chicken people? This is Big Claw.

What motivated you to choose ‘Killer Chicken’ as the theme for Zone 20?

Bit Heroes Quest is the flagship product of Bitverse, so we thought it would be a great addition to bring that lore into our game. That way we can create a visible relationship between all Bitverse games, which will allow us to create better plans going forward.

What is the connection between chicken and Bitverse?

How does Zone 20’s theme relate to the central story of Bitverse?

of course! Zone 20 tells the story of how Bitverse was created. Clark Gotra, but from the perspective of those discovering these forgotten stories. The intention is to start creating a deeper connection between Bit Heroes Quest and Bitverse.

Where did you get the inspiration for creating the Chicken Clan?

(Laughs) Bloodborne.

If you pay attention, you can see the similarities. The Chickenneers are a people who escaped the dangers of the outside world and settled in claw-shaped canyons.

They begin to make up a story about the ‘primitive chicken’ that gave them a house, and eventually discover the remains of an ancient civilization that mysteriously disappeared a long time ago in the same place.

I wanted to create something similar to what happened in Yharnam. Although it’s not exactly the same (since the researchers are foreign, for example), I liked a lot of the way Bloodborne used their knowledge of ancient civilizations to tell a story of people seeking power and insight.

In this case, our researchers are the “Healing Church” and the chickens are Yharnam citizens.

Big Claw Land, get it?

What is the relationship between chickenniers and researchers?

The first interaction between the Chickeneers and the researchers was very good. There has been cultural exchange from the very beginning, which is why you can see all the chickens in Roosterville using devices such as tools and equipment.

The problem is that things start to get trickier when researchers discover evidence of ancient civilizations. They discovered Pale Yolk and began experimenting with it. This explains a lot about the Hen’s Hideaway familiars and explains the mention of a group of royal guard troops called “Chi’khans” who do not appear as familiars even when out of gear.

How many people worked on creating the new zone at BHQ?

We all have a lot going on. Creating a new area takes months and the teams involved range from artists to animators, designers, engineers and QA.

What is the biggest challenge when creating a new zone at BHQ?

The hardest thing is creating the sets and mythology. Unlike other content, which is just a matter of calculation and configuration, these devices require innovation and usability. Bit Heroes Quest is huge, so the hardest part is always creating these new sets and seeing how they are balanced. People have something useful to chase.

Which of the new Fusions is your favorite?

The art team did an amazing job on this stage. The Fusion looks really cool, but my favorite is the Kak’Ferkhan.

The legendary Caq Perkan

Which came first, the chicken or the egg?

Of course it’s a pale yolk (laughs).

Thanks to Mr. Bit Heroes Quest for giving us an interesting look into the creative process and inspiration for Big Claw Land. Thanks Lore Master. We’d like to explore it ourselves!
