Dubai, United Arab Emirates, April 17, 2026, Chainwire
Bybit, the world’s second-largest cryptocurrency exchange by trading volume, reported that global stock markets hit record highs, driven by a historic breakout in the S&P 500 and synchronized gains across risk assets.
The S&P 500 closed above 7,000 for the first time on April 15. This is an important psychological milestone and a historic high for the index. The benchmark is up about 7.8% for the month to date in April and about 2.9% for the year through 2026 (before markets open on Friday, April 17), reflecting continued momentum in U.S. stocks. US benchmark stock indices continued to rise to record highs following the upward breakout highlighted by Bybit Learn since April 6.
This rally is part of a broader global trend. The MSCI All Country World Index, which tracks more than 2,500 stocks from developed and emerging markets, rose to a record level near 1,064, according to analysis by Bybit Learn.
Major technology-led indices also rose. The Nasdaq 100 is up 10.9% in April and 4.3% year to date, with further upside expected over the next 12 months. Meanwhile, Taiwan’s RIC index has surged 18.1% in April and 28.3% so far this year, showing a strong rebound in certain Asian stock markets as well. Taiwan’s stock market, worth about $4.14 trillion, surpassed the UK to become the world’s seventh-largest stock market.
In addition to indices, individual stocks recorded significant gains. Bloom Energy’s stock has soared, up 55% in April and 141.7% year to date. Several large U.S. companies, including Morgan Stanley, Citigroup, Lam Research, Marvell Technology and Dell Technologies, also reached new all-time highs in recent sessions, reflecting broader strength across sectors.
Han Tan, senior market analyst at Bybit, said: “The surge in global stocks highlights continued investor optimism that a US-Iran peace deal is imminent. However, it remains to be seen whether overall market optimism will be matched by geopolitical realities.
All-time highs for major indices and individual stocks highlight a period of heightened risk activity across global financial markets, with both traditional and digital asset ecosystems reflecting similar underlying sentiments. More details can be found on our website.
