BlackRock has filed a registration statement with the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) for its Bitcoin Premium Income ETF.

This report comes as cryptocurrency exchange-traded products (ETPs) record their largest weekly outflow since November 2025. The ETF is expected to be listed on Nasdaq. It mainly holds stocks of Bitcoin (BTC), iShares Bitcoin Trust (IBIT), and cash. The fund aims to track the price of Bitcoin while generating additional returns.

BlackRock plans to earn this return using an options strategy, primarily selling call options on IBIT stocks. Sometimes options linked to other Bitcoin ETPs are also available. These funds allow in-kind creation and redemption, allowing you to exchange assets directly instead of using cash.

Cryptocurrency ETP outflows hit a record high in November.

Coinbase will act as custodian of the fund’s Bitcoin, while Bank of New York Mellon will hold the cash. However, the filing did not disclose key details such as ticker symbol or management fee. The move follows Nasdaq’s previous filing to list the ETF. In December, the SEC had already begun reviewing the application to decide whether to approve it.

The filing comes as cryptocurrency investment products face strong selling pressure. Cryptocurrency ETPs saw weekly outflows of $1.73 billion, the largest since mid-November 2025, according to CoinShares. American products accounted for most of the losses.

Bitcoin ETP suffered a loss of $1.09 billion, while Ethereum ETP recorded an outflow of $630 million. CoinShares said this selling was due to weakening expectations for a U.S. interest rate cut and a decline in cryptocurrency prices.

Despite the outflow, BlackRock remains the largest cryptocurrency ETF issuer. The Bitcoin ETF holds nearly $70 billion in assets, while the Ethereum ETF manages more than $10 billion. Overall, BlackRock’s cryptocurrency funding is still up by $847 million this year.
