The next Grand Tournament begins on January 11th and requires Gold to participate. Start stacking!
That day is November 22, 2023. It was Wednesday. Jiho stood on stage at the YGG Web3 Game Summit in the Philippines and said four words that surprised tens of thousands of Lunasians: Axie Classic. am. In the back!
Since then, over 150,000 monthly active users (MAU) have played Axie Classic. Classic’s grand tournament saw over 70,000 players compete for the Mystic axe. With great MAU comes great responsibility. That’s why today we’re releasing a post-maintenance balancing patch for Axie Classic! Here’s what’s inside:
Base HP of all classes increases by 40 points. This shakes up the early game of combat, giving Axis more breathing room and giving players more skill expression.
Starting today, Axies will always target the top lane opponent when facing a split target in the top and bottom lane. In the past, axies had a 50% chance of targeting a top or bottom opponent. Now this has changed. However, the top and bottom axes still prioritize the closest target in the same lane.
Made critical hit chance more random to make it more consistent. Over the past month, players have seen extremely high or low rolls have a huge impact on the outcome of a match. The new pseudo-random distribution of critical hits keeps this mechanic interesting and unpredictable while also preventing situations that result in players whining in frustration. Consider this a more balanced approach to critical hit chance.
In this balancing patch, we’ve also taken steps to rebalance Axie Classic back to its original design. This can increase the number of viable cards in the meta. We’ve also rebalanced some card stats so that similar cards have closer values. Our idea is simple. These changes should give players more choices and create a healthier, more diverse meta. Check out all card balancing updates here.
As always, we highly welcome community feedback and will be closely monitoring the data for this update. You can write: Classic Feedback Form Check out our suggestions and other feedback.
If all goes well, the second grand tournament is scheduled to begin on January 11. You’ll need gold to participate, so stock up on as much as you can now!
PS If you have been actively playing Axie Classic in the last two weeks (playing Cursed Colosseum and/or opening chests) you will receive 300 gold right in your inventory. We hope you enjoy the holiday gifts from the Classic Team!
