AvatarLife Grid will host a virtual Pride Week for residents and visitors from other grids starting at 11 a.m. PT on Saturday, June 24, with events running through Friday, June 30.

Consistent with the events held during UN Pride Month, but taking place in a virtual world environment, Pride Week will kick off with the Color Fiesta Art Submission Contest from June 24 to June 28 at 9:00 PM PT. AvatarLife Museum, winners will be announced on July 1st.

A gaming contest where participants can win cash prizes will also be held at the Diesel Games location and will run for five days starting June 25. Guest speaker sessions and open mic sessions will run from 11:00 AM to 2:00 PM Pacific Time. The time in the Rainbow region is June 30th. During the open mic, attendees will have the opportunity to share stories, poems, songs, etc. of their choice to win prizes.

AvatarLife does not support hypergrids, so users cannot simply teleport to an area. Instead, visitors who don’t already have an account on Grid must register here and then add their Grid URI. Grid.avatarlife.com:8002 — Follow these instructions to add it to the grid list in the Settings tab of the OpenSim viewer.

Color Fiesta Contest and New Virtual Museum

The Color Fiesta contest and new art museum will be a major focus during Pride Week. Beginning June 24, participants can submit up to three works of art each and receive a prize for each submission. Fiesta celebrates the opening of a newly built art museum.“Each participant will receive AV$500 for their participation,” Chandrasekar said. “The art will be shared on social media platforms and people will come and vote for the art. Artwork to be submitted may be digital or hand-drawn and must not be black and white.”

We will also be touring several shortlisted works at the museum on June 29th. “The top 16 works will be displayed and permanently archived in the virtual museum,” he said.

Submissions close on June 28th. Voting on entrants’ submissions begins on June 28th at 9:00 PM PT and ends on June 30th at 9:00 AM PT. Voting results will be announced on July 1st, followed by an awards ceremony.

Anyone who participates in the open mic event will receive 500 AV$.

“Open mic is a unique event where we all come together. Everyone can turn on the mic for one minute and talk about whatever they want or showcase their talents like storytelling, singing, poetry,” said Chandrasekar.

Earn generous rewards in the Skill Gaming Fever marathon

Gamers in the Skill Gaming Fever Marathon can show off their gaming skills and win prizes in the grid’s world currency. This currency can be exchanged for real money. Grid hosts and supports player-versus-player, player-versus-computer, and play-to-earn types of games.

Although this event is mainly for games, game creators can also attend and meet. The skill games that will be played are games hosted on a grid and are similar to most of the games available in Second Life and some OpenSim grids, Chandrasekar said.

“For example, there are the popular Zyngo games and other Slingo skill games,” he said. “We have a variety of high score contests and other contests with generous AV$ prizes. The exchange rate is approximately 1 dollar to 250 AV$.”

The final showdown is scheduled for June 30th and will feature live music, virtual dancing, soulmate searches, speed dating and more, all taking place in the Music Island area.
