Animoca Brands invests in UAE-based Farcana to strengthen Bitcoin ecosystem in gaming

Animoca Brands, a key player in the Web3 and Metaverse space, has made a strategic investment in UAE-based gaming startup Farcana.
This investment aims to support Farcana’s beta launch and development within the Bitcoin ecosystem, propelling the company to become a leading games studio in the MENA region.
Built on Unreal Engine 5, Farcana is a team arena third-person shooter game known for its competitive tournaments with persistent Bitcoin prize pools, and is one of the first AAA Web3 games to introduce a “free mint” Bitcoin ordinal. We are ready to become one. The game, which attracts more than 40,000 users, is planning new tournaments after completing its first playtest in Dubai.
The role of the Animoca brand in Farcana’s growth
Hong Kong-based Animoca Brands has been advising Farcana on token economics and market strategy since the second quarter of 2023.
This investment not only strengthens Animoca’s activities in the MENA region, but also aligns with its recent partnership with Saudi Arabia’s NEOM. Animoca will use the majority of the new capital to strengthen Farcana and integrate it within the Bitcoin ecosystem.
Yat Siu, co-founder of Animoca Brands, praised Farcana’s progress and emphasized Animoca’s vision to lead Web3 development in MENA. Farcana CEO Ilman Shazhaev highlighted the company’s efforts to collaborate with Animoca and expressed excitement about bringing the game to market next year.

Farcana’s development is in line with Dubai’s “Dubai Program for the 2033 Games” launched by Crown Prince Sheikh Hamdan. Focusing on talent, content and technology, the program aims to strengthen Dubai’s digital economy, making the participation of Farcana and Animoca Brands particularly important.
