cat lying down I am an artist after my own heart. She combines the high-tech/low-life aesthetic of cyberpunk with the simplicity and visual appeal of pop art. Think Philip K. Dick move to factory. Her photos have an understated simplicity. Andy WarholBut Warhol’s cultural critique focused on the dangerous boredom of mass consumption. Dick’s cultural criticism was more systematic and dystopian. There was no time for boredom. Warhol is the early warning bell and Dick is the evacuation siren. We are now in their transhumanist world.

In her introduction to Flickr, she describes her artistic process using Second Life screenshots: “I edit for fun, usually with a cyberpunk theme. I use the pre-PBR Alchemy viewer to take my shots. The only post-processing my photos undergo is my editing using Pixelmator.”

soft

“Soft” represents one of the magics of cyberpunk. It takes the neon bright colors we associate with arcades and midways, the innocent joy of childhood, and infuses it with a sense of unease and low-level menace. How can the color pink make people anxious? It just is. The picture is too simple. A woman resting her face with her eyes closed. But the simple act of blurring the top half and the use of bright pink gives it a menacing feel that’s part of cyberpunk.

noise

“Noise” offers a cyberpunk aesthetic combined with a cultural critique of late capitalism. We have the type of executives who unconsciously pass by women on the sidewalk. We see her surrounded by her indifference. The fast-paced black suit pants kick her ass and get the blame. She squats on the sidewalk, takes up minimal space, and is the exact opposite in every way.

In the image description, she quotes Inspector Lakhani from the Netrunner game: “They cloak themselves in the wisdom of our shared heritage and religion, but they make no mistake. They are terrorists and criminals." Of course, the executive and the woman may be saying the same thing about each other.

cat lying down photostream is fun and thought-provoking. Many of her photos include thought-provoking quotes or observations. She also has amazing urban futuristic landscapes in the world. She also has some fun videos with her cats.
