Workday streamlines SNG operations ahead of new leasing laws

Sovereign Network Group has completed the rollout of Workday across HR and finance operations, giving the UK housing association a more integrated digital foundation to support more than 3,000 staff and manage 85,000 homes.

“Moving our core HR and finance operations to Workday is a huge step forward for our organization.”

Kevin Ives, SNG Chief Information Officersaid.

The move integrates people and financial data into a single platform, with the goal of making internal processes simpler, faster and easier to manage.

SNG says that by consolidating core business functions, it can reduce administrative overhead, improve visibility across teams, and free up capacity for work that has a more direct impact on residents and communities. This is particularly important as the UK housing sector prepares for its biggest regulatory overhaul in years.

Supports a more connected operating model

SNG aims to improve how people and finances are managed by running Workday Financial Management and Human Capital Management on a unified platform. The goal is to replace fragmented processes with a single system, giving leaders a clearer view of what’s happening across the business.

“Integrating HR and finance in Workday and our close partnership with PwC allows SNG to operate more confidently and faster.”

Daniel Pell, Vice President and Country Manager, UKI, Workdaysaid.

A key part of the value proposition is automation. SNG uses Workday HCM to reduce manual HR administration, allowing teams to accomplish routine tasks faster and minimize the friction that slows down large organizations. At the same time, the platform is designed to provide real-time insights into talent and skills, allowing leaders to make more informed decisions about workforce planning and performance.

On the financial side, the value proposition is similar. By connecting people data to financial management, SNG provides a clearer picture of how staffing, activities and spending are connected across the organization. This helps increase the speed and responsiveness of accounting processes while supporting more confident decision-making at the leadership level.

While Workday supported the new operating model, Workday’s partner PwC led the implementation, helping SNG roll out the system without disrupting day-to-day operations.

Regulations add urgency to modernization

The timing of the release adds weight to the announcement. UK housing providers are entering a new period of regulatory scrutiny, with new regulations placing increasing pressure to improve compliance, transparency and operational discipline.

The Renters’ Rights Act, which begins taking effect this week, is a clear example of that change, creating a more challenging environment for organizations already operating under stringent financial and social expectations.

As administrative burdens increase, organizations often look for ways to reduce manual work so their teams can focus on governance, compliance, and service delivery. For SNGs, the message is that better internal systems should help organizations spend more time understanding and responding to responsibilities rather than getting caught up in repetitive processes.

SNG describes the deployment as a foundation for better serving the community, while Workday positions the platform as a way to deliver certainty, speed, and auditable results in mission-critical operations.

What does the following mean?

Taken together, the SNG launch demonstrates how housing associations are using digital transformation to manage internal complexity and external pressures.

Deploying Workday isn’t just about replacing legacy systems. The idea is to create a more durable operating model that can scale with the organization’s responsibilities. This is particularly relevant for large service providers that manage thousands of homes and serve communities in a changing regulatory and economic climate.

For SNG, Workday is more than a platform upgrade. This is a strategic investment in integrated technologies to address both current operational requirements and future regulatory requirements. With HR and finance now running on a single, scalable system, housing associations can focus resources on compliance and community priorities while remaining agile using Workday’s real-time insights and automation.
