Going off topic on my blog and clearly explaining how to use AI in a blog post – Ryan Schultz

One of the benefits of a blog with your name in the title is that you can write blog posts about topics such as: literally nothingIt’s not technically off topic! 😜 I’ve been sharing a lot of personal details about my life lately, but I wanted to talk about how I tend to go off topic on this blog.

A classic example of this is when I correctly predicted on January 25, 2020 that we would face a global pandemic, which led to many of my blog posts from that point on being about COVID-19. (At the time, the financial planner with whom I shared my predictions when discussing the financial impact of the pandemic at my bank was convinced I was psychic, but all I did was pay close attention to news about a mysterious new virus coming out of China.) Many readers at the time may have wondered why I had so suddenly shifted focus. everyone It started gaining attention as the world went into lockdown in March 2020. (I still can’t get over the fact that more than a million Americans have died from COVID-19, in part due to misinformation, disinformation, and crazy conspiracy theories spread widely through social media.)

This is always a blog about the metaverse.

So what I learned from that experience is that sometimes you can go off topic, but you shouldn’t completely overthink it, like I did during the pandemic. This blog will remain a blog about my passionate hobbies and research interests, including virtual worlds, social VR, and the metaverse. The only change I’ve made recently is to explicitly include references to artificial intelligence and generative AI (GenAI) in my blog tagline.

News and views on social VR, virtual worlds, the metaverse, and the impact of artificial intelligence and generative AI on the metaverse.

And as my tagline suggests, my writing about AI will try to focus on how this rapidly evolving technology will impact the metaverse now and in the future. There are so many people writing about AI in 2022 during this new hype cycle fueled by the amazing results produced by new generative AI tools. And honestly, those other authors are doing such great work that the best I can do is recommend them and encourage you to follow them! But as I did recently, I will share my experience learning how to use GenAI tools effectively and efficiently.

Like it or not, we will all be interacting with AI in the future.

What I would like to start doing is being transparent about when and how I use GenAI tools when writing specific blog posts. We’re already inundated with ChatGPT-generated slop that delivers content on the Internet, and frankly, I feel obligated to inform my blog readers when I use such tools in my writing. So from now on, you will see a purple box at the top of all my blog posts that looks like this:

  • “Edit Note: No generative AI tools were used to create this blog post,” is one of the statements. or
  • “Editorial note: I used the following generative AI tools to create this blog post,” along with a list of all the tools used, where they were used, and how to use them.

You can see an example at the top of this post. Below is a screenshot of another example I am talking about in a recent post on my blog.

One final thing I would like to mention is that this is a personal blog (as I said above), and I will occasionally talk about things off-topic, like TV shows. fierce competition And how it made me feel. I realized that in that blog post I tried to add a little bit about how the concept of “coming out” differs in the metaverse to fit the post into my blog’s tagline. But as I read later, I felt that I had suppressed that part to some degree, but not very successfully. So from now on I won’t turn into a pretzel to talk about the metaverse, even if I get off topic!! As I said above, since this is a blog with a name in the title, an off-topic blog post can be anything that comes to mind when you’re sitting in front of the WordPress editor window. Fair warning!

For example, I just finished watching all three seasons of a TV series. heart stopperSo you can expect an off-topic blog post about this soon!! 🏳️‍🌈
Although it’s nowhere near the traffic levels we had around 2019-2022, we still get enough traffic (and feedback) to keep blogging.

It’s nowhere near the traffic I had during the heyday of the 2019-2022 Metaverse hype cycle, but I’m still getting enough traffic to indicate that the blog is worth continuing. I guess I love writing!

Thank you to everyone who comments on my blog posts and leaves messages on the Contact Us page. However, I am very bad at replying to people who leave messages through the Contact Me page. Fuuge Dig into the backlog!!

That’s it for now. How are you!
