Key points:
-
3D Accessory Rendering: Get a first look at how air and ground accessories come to life in Atia’s Legacy.
-
Combined AXS (bAXS): Introducing an account-bound version of AXS designed to reward real players and discourage bot activity.
-
The “Big Swing” Era: Why 2026 will mark a shift from gradual adjustments to drastic economic restructuring
-
Axie population control: Initial discussions on managing the 12 million Axie oversupply through an aggressive burn mechanism.
In our latest Lunacian Lounge, Jase, Cruise, Shade, and Jaatster sat down to share the latest updates on the state and future of the Axie ecosystem. Discussions ranged from exciting new 3D leaks to one of the most transparent conversations on the long-term economic restructuring heading into 2026.
The session began with Cruise previewing the latest developments on Atia’s Legacy. The team is currently finalizing animations for a new lineup of weapons, including the fantastic Lantern weapon that acts as a unique thrown explosive.
We also got our first look at in-game 3D accessory renders. Shade clarified key points of direction. Air and Ground accessories are the focus of current 3D development. These assets can be rebuilt using high-fidelity models and dynamic scaling to give them more presence and purpose in the 3D environment. Although it remains cosmetic for now, lightweight utilities are planned across both Atia’s Legacy and Axie Core.
A major highlight of the lounge was the introduction of bAXS, an app token version of AXS, currently scheduled to launch in Q1 2026.
Key features of bAXS include:
-
1:1 Guarantee: bAXS is supported 1:1 by AXS.
-
Account Attribution: It is account bound and cannot be traded. You can earn them through the Bounty Board and AxiGames, use them for breeding or evolution, and stake them, but they cannot be transferred to another account.
-
Churn based on reputation: If you choose to sell bAXS, a fee will be paid to the Treasury. This fee fluctuates depending on your Axie score. Reputable players like Myth Keepers will receive significantly lower fees, effectively prioritizing human contributors over “farm and dump” bot networks.
Shade and Cruise directly addressed community sentiment regarding recent SLP changes. The message was simple. TThe days of small, incremental updates are over.
The team explained that fear of community reaction often slowed past decisions, leading to small moves that failed to move the needle.
In 2026, Sky Mavis is making “big changes” to protect the long-term health of Treasury and AXS. This includes a “clean house” approach to prepare the ecosystem for the next generation of users.
One of our top priorities is to address the Axie oversupply (12 million) through an aggressive burn mechanism that will make owning Axie feel important again.
Q: Why are you removing SLP farming before the next utility is ready? Doesn’t that cause panic?
cruise: We don’t want to reveal the entire hand too early and risk hype before delivery. But SLP agriculture was accelerating so quickly that waiting just one more month could have jeopardized the next phase of the economy. We needed to plug the leak now to have a foundation to work from for future plans.
Q: Will these changes hurt real players more than bots?
shade: no. These changes are designed to benefit real players. It removes incentives for the bot-centric experiences we see today and gives us space to improve new products. Over the years, we’ve put a tremendous amount of development effort into cat-and-mouse bot detection. By leveraging on-chain systems like bAXS and Axie Score, rewards are naturally distributed to real humans. This allows developers to build gameplay and features rather than fighting against exploits.
Q: Why do you continue to focus your efforts on SLPs? Why not use AXS?
shade: This is a controversial topic even internally! Some of us prefer a pure AXS focus, while others value the history of SLP. For now, SLP remains the primary breeding fuel, and we’ll likely see additional utility (like crafting or stamina) in Axie Core. But make no mistake. AXS is the center of the universe and bAXS is how we ensure that the universe remains centered.
Q: Why should players trust these “big swings” when the floor price is low?
cruise: Doing the same thing over and over again does not produce different results. We’re not satisfied with the $2 floor either. We believe that adjusting emissions structures and addressing Axie oversupply is the only way to meaningfully increase the value and utility of every Axie. These lounges exist because we want to build them together with our community, not privately.
The team has reaffirmed that Lunacian Lounges will continue on a regular basis to provide a consistent touchpoint for enthusiasts who build this world with us.
While we’re still finalizing the details, we’ll be sharing a detailed 2026 roadmap in the coming weeks as these “big changes” are integrated into a unified vision for Lunacia’s future.
Let’s keep pushing.
