Four years ago, STEPN started with a rough idea. What should people do if people can move, reward and feel part of the community by phone? A year ago, we introduced Stepn Go to open new ways to connect new epidemiology, new rewards and other players.
Four years ago, STEPN started with a bold experiment, a simple question. If we can compensate for movements, build a community, and move people to Web 3… What should I do with sneakers on my phone?
At the time, the NFT was booming. “Web3 Lifestyle App” did not exist, and most people were not sure whether the encryption was the future or another bubble. We didn’t know it worked. But we made it anyway. And people started walking, then started running and then stayed with us.
Since 2021 we have started new apps, new systems and new connections. We introduced STEPN Go a year ago to share sneakers, bring new levels of social gameplay and open the door of a new player.
But outside of STEPN, the world around us has changed constantly. We saw Memecoins flying and colliding. We saw an amazing project, but we also saw scams and rugs. We saw Bitcoin falling less than $ 20K and exceeding $ 120K. We saw regulators cracked down and the agency entered quietly. We laughed and cried, and probably bought the top once or twice.
September was a praise for everything the space went through. The best point and the lowest point that formed Web3 is through the language we know best: sneakers
We called it to celebrate the fourth anniversary of the fourth stage and the first birthday of STEPN Go. But in fact, it has been a complete praise for the absurdity of culture, events, laughter, and encryption over the past few years. All of them were expressed through sneakers design and community driving experience.
Design to talk
There was a sneaker skin at the center of SPECNEMBER4. Over four weeks, 12 were related to certain themes. Each skin created an archive at a better or worse definition of krypto from memes coins and bitcoin ATH to black rock and lug pulling.
Every week, players can collect three new skins through different in -app mechanisms, some in Stepn, and some in Stepn Go. In a week you had to pepper. In another state you were spending energy. Then, improvement, burns, and upgrades came out. It was different every time. The goal was to allow everyone to participate and to keep it dynamic and surprising.
And design? They were not subtle. We leaned from rocket controlled by Shiba Inu to Jerry’s actual marathon shoes and SBF’s prison jumpsuit. And the community replied.
Challenge in the challenge
But we did not stop with skin. Quietly, we have started the Seed Phrase Hunt, one of the most ambitious and non -traditional ideas we tried.
Two wallets: one is protected with Stepn, one is Stepn Go, and 12 word seed phrase. There were clues that spread in a month, words, numbers, hidden icons, all visuals, tweets, and even disguised in NFTS.
Each clue provided information enough to identify numbers and apps in the order, in order. Caring them together and putting them in the right order were in the community, and if you are brave enough, unlock your wallet.
Inside each wallet there was a single 1: 1 Genesis sneaker, which was made for hunting. But the unlock was not the end, and it was a tremendous start. Anyone who can move Genesis to his wallet before the final snapshot receives $ 1,000 from GMT and adds an additional $ 1,000 for other STEPNEMBER4 skins held in the same app. It meant that the perfect collection could earn $ 7,000. And in two wallets? Total $ 14,000.
People went to full detective mode. They combed through tweets. They detoxified the hidden meaning. They traced clue numbers and argued about interpretation, and so. Some are very close.
Eventually, the two community members broke the code. One for Stepn. One for STEPN Go. And both have six skins in the app. you’re right. They couldn’t find their wallets momAward xed. We spent $ 7,000 each in GMT.
The community made it
If you have been with us for a while, we know that we like experiments. We want to push the boundaries, do what others do not try, and create an experience that people say, “Wait … did you really did it?” But no one works without a community.
The event landed only in a way because people appeared. Mint or manage or collection as well as play. To bend the skin. To decipher the clues. Dig discord thread and cling to small details. That is the reason why the fourth stage was made as a community moment.
Thousands of people participated. Some have completed the challenge. Some did not. Some walked one skin and walked. Others treated it like a full time job. And thank you all really. You have made this a reality.
Retrospective
Stepnemic was a retrospective in some ways. It was an opportunity not only where the encryption space was, but also to reflect it where we were. Over the past four years, we have explored over -advertising, collisions, prohibitions, breakthroughs, real milestones and some Guinness world records.
This event was a way of making the history playful, meaningful and community priority. And it reminded us that we are still here, hopefully hope for you. Still moving. Still architecture.
And the four stages of the second country are technically over, but what’s indicated is not over.
We are already planning something next.
