Sonic Labs Announces $250,000 Sonic DeFAI Hackathon in Partnership with DoraHacks and Zerebro

George Town, Cayman Islands, January 20, 2025, Chainwire

Sonic Labs, the team behind the highest-performing EVM L1 blockchain Sonic, announced the launch of the Sonic DeFAI Hackathon in collaboration with global hackathon organizer DoraHacks and autonomous AI agent Zerebro.

The hackathon, with a $250,000 prize pool, invites participants to compete over four weeks to create a new AI agent that performs both social and on-chain tasks, further accelerating the development of decentralized finance and AI (DeFAI) at Sonic.

Hackathon submissions open today, January 21, 2025, and close on February 24, 2025. Winners will be announced in early March.

Strengthening AI and blockchain

DeFAI is a term that combines AI and blockchain technology. For example, AI agents on blockchain can automatically handle complex tasks through simple commands, such as bridging assets, exchanging tokens, or depositing liquidity, all in one step. Other AI agents can manage social media accounts and execute marketing strategies efficiently.

The ambition of the Sonic DeFAI Hackathon is to leverage AI frameworks in a way that transforms the way we interact with blockchain technology. From managing social media accounts to executing on-chain tasks, AI agents have become the new frontier of innovation in the blockchain space.

Sonic’s unmatched transaction speeds (10,000 TPS) and sub-second finality ensure AI agents can seamlessly execute complex real-time tasks.

“The Sonic DeFAI Hackathon is a groundbreaking initiative that combines cutting-edge AI capabilities with the transformative power of blockchain. With the $250,000 prize pool, we aim to inspire creators around the world to redefine DeFi through AI agents.” — Luis Fausto, Director of Content, Sonic Labs
