Crypto Gloom

Pixelverse brings cryptocurrency memes to life with the game MemeBattle.

Pixelverse, a cyberpunk-themed game ecosystem, is launching ‘MemeBattle,’ a tactical deck-building game that incorporates popular cryptocurrency memes into playable characters.

The game is scheduled to debut in January and will feature a roster of meme mascots from several blockchain projects. In the game, players will form a squad of characters inspired by well-known internet and cryptocurrency cultures to compete in strategic battles.

The game will be launched on Base, Coinbase’s Ethereum layer-2 platform chosen for its scalability, low transaction costs, and built-in wallet integration, providing a more accessible experience for players.

What is Meme Battle?

MemeBattle revolves around creating a squad of characters inspired by cryptocurrency memes and fighting opponents to earn rewards.

The game’s initial lineup includes mascots from the Base project: Brett, Toshi, Dog in Me, Keyboard Cat, and Mochi. Other blockchain-based characters also appear, including Pudgy Penguins, Turbo, and Mew.

Although the game is classified as a deck builder, the characters are not represented by traditional cards. Pixelverse didn’t reveal the exact gameplay format, but did say it would move away from the traditional card mechanic.

Growing Blockchain Portfolio

Pixelverse gained recognition earlier this year with PixelTap, a Telegram minigame that caught the attention of a wide audience. MemeBattle is the next step in the development pipeline designed to expand the company’s presence in blockchain-based gaming.

The project has received funding from Gate.io’s $50 million Meme Fund, which supports initiatives focused on memes and community-driven content in the cryptocurrency space. Additionally, investments from Delphi Ventures and Mechanism Capital helped fund development.

MemeBattle, which launches with 10 characters, aims to combine elements of internet culture with tactical gameplay. More details about the game will likely be revealed closer to its debut, but this signals continued experimentation at the intersection of cryptocurrency, gaming, and cultural trends.
