Eve Online developer CCP Games is set to release early access to its latest blockchain-based survival game, Eve Frontier.
The Founder Access pack provides exclusive benefits to early adopters and access to a private alpha stage starting December 10th.
The closed alpha includes “always-on servers” where players can explore game mechanics and provide feedback, while Founder Access perks include cosmetic items, premium post-launch gameplay, and community roles.
What is Eve Frontiers?
Eve Frontier is a space survival game built on Ethereum’s layer 2 Redstone network.
The game features the $EVE utility token as a key element of in-game activities. This integration allows for a unique economic model and governance structure compared to traditional games.
CCP Games has emphasized its ambition to involve players more directly in shaping game development and governance.
How do I participate in Early Access?
Early access is available through three tiers of Founder Access packs: $29.99, $59.99, and $89.99.
This pack includes a variety of benefits, including exclusive in-game skins, a premium subscription period after the game’s launch, and a “founder” role on the game’s official Discord server. Participants will also have the opportunity to interact directly with the development team through regular streams.
During the closed alpha period, players must adhere to a non-disclosure agreement (NDA) to keep development details confidential while the team gathers feedback to improve the gameplay experience.
What’s next to Eve Frontier?
“Our long-term vision is to create an open ecosystem built, operated and managed by frontier residents themselves,” said Hilmar Veigar Pétursson, CEO of CCP Games.
CCP Games plans to eventually release Eve Frontier as a free-to-play game. The Early Access phase serves as a testing ground to improve game systems and ensure a stable release. Although the use of blockchain technology has drawn mixed reactions, CCP Games claims it remains focused on providing a balanced and engaging player experience.
The studio has yet to announce a specific timeline for the game’s official release.
