Blockchain-based battle royale game ‘Off the Grid’ has launched into early access and is available to PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC players through the Epic Games Store.
Developed by Gunzilla Games, Off the Grid introduces a new dimension to the battle royale genre by incorporating blockchain technology.
Although the full functionality of the game is not available yet, this early release gives players a preview of the unique gameplay mechanics and blockchain-based economy.
What is Off the Grid?
Off the Grid is a dystopian battle royale shooter that places players on a metropolitan map where teams must survive each other to survive.
This game is similar to popular titles such as: Apex Legends and fortnite, However, it introduces a unique mechanic that allows players to equip and swap robotic limbs during matches, providing new abilities and tactical options.
The game also aims to stand out for its narrative-driven approach, with over 60 hours of story content planned, developed under the direction of co-founder and popular film director and screenwriter Neill Blomkamp. District 9 and bloke.
What can you expect from Early Access?
The early access version of the game includes one large city map and a 60-player mode called “Extraction Royale” that pits squads of three against each other. Players can earn GUN tokens by completing in-game objectives, but the full blockchain economy is not yet live.
Built on Gunzilla’s Avalanche subnet, the GUN Token is expected to power the in-game economy by allowing the issuance and trading of NFTs such as weapons and equipment once fully launched. At this stage, players will only have access to a limited set of features, with full blockchain integration planned for a future update.
As Off the Grid progresses through the early access phase, Gunzilla Games plans to expand content, including new game modes, maps, and a full implementation of the GUN token on the Avalanche mainnet.
