Ronin Unveils Waypoint, Enabling Instant Onboarding and In-Game Transactions for Gamers

Ronin, a gaming blockchain, has introduced Ronin Waypoint, a universal cross-game account system that aims to streamline gamer onboarding, improve player engagement, and create new monetization opportunities for Web3 game developers.
“It’s becoming increasingly clear that there’s a disconnect between crypto capital allocation in the West and the active user base in emerging economies like Southeast Asia and Latin America, where many of Ronin’s users are,” Jeffrey Gillin, chief growth officer at Ronin developer Sky Mavis, said in a written statement. “Web3 games still have significant potential for mass cryptocurrency adoption, and we believe the launch of Ronin Waypoint is the next step toward that vision,” he added.
The launch of Ronin Waypoint is designed to enhance the on-chain gaming experience by providing a unified user interface across all Ronin games and decentralized applications (dApps) with a single account credential.
Leveraging multi-party computation (MPC) technology, Ronin Waypoint creates a secure keyless wallet that allows you to log in more easily via email or social media without the need for seed phrases or browser extensions. This approach not only protects users from fraud and phishing attacks, but also ensures maximum security by distributing key control to multiple parties, ensuring that no single entity has full access.
The solution is designed to improve user conversion for game studios by allowing players to complete an initial on-chain transaction when setting up an account. It also aims to improve player engagement by providing gas-free transactions and introducing new in-game transaction possibilities for Web3 games. For example, instead of requiring players to exit the game and visit an external site to purchase an NFT or perform other on-chain activities, Ronin Waypoint allows users to perform these transactions directly within the game.
Ronin Waypoint offers integrations across multiple platforms, including Unity, Telegram, iOS, and Android. The integration is currently working on Axie Infinity Classic and will soon be available on Axie Infinity Origins and additional games from Ronin’s partner studios. Developers can look forward to upcoming features such as an in-game marketplace to improve monetization, transaction policy management to set pre-approved on-chain spending limits, and player behavior analytics to track performance and improve user rewards.
Ronin processes over $4 billion in NFT transactions and reports over 1.7 million daily active users.
Ronin is an Ethereum Virtual Machine (EVM) blockchain specifically designed for gaming. Developed by Sky Mavis, creator of Axie Infinity, Ronin is a major Web3 title that has generated over $1.3 billion in revenue and is unique in its ability to scale a single game to support millions of daily active users. The blockchain has processed over $4 billion in non-fungible token (NFT) transactions.
Despite the challenges of seamless onboarding and native game experiences on Web3, Ronin has achieved remarkable growth, currently boasting 1.7 million daily active users. This growth has been driven by successful closed beta tests (CBTs) of new games such as Forgotten Runiverse, Lumiterra, and Ragnarok: Monster World.
Recently, Ronin announced a partnership with Singapore-based Tats Works, who had moved from IMX and Solana to develop their free-to-play life-simulation RPG, Tatsumeko.
