The grid announced its closure in March, and since then many of its former residents have moved to other grids, making Zetaworld a popular destination.

Start in Sirocco, which will be the administrative hub for the new 3rd Rock Grid expedition community once it’s complete. There’s already land available for lease, starting at $2.50 per month for 10,000 second-life-sized areas.

For more information, including land prices, event schedules, and membership forms, please visit the 3rd Wind community website.

According to Alia Soulstar, founder of 3rd Wind Community, the community leases a dedicated server from ZetaWorlds, and because they are a non-profit, they are able to offer very low land prices.

She also said there are arts and education areas and other public lands. Hypergrid businessThe total area is equivalent to more than 800 standard areas.

“We had a community meeting for a month, and invited some of the grid owners to come and talk to us,” Soulstar said. “Then, after a long discussion, we chose this grid. A lot of the choice was based on the flexibility of having a dedicated server to design our own community. The general feeling was that we wanted to be together as a family, so we collectively decided to move here.”

For those who haven’t yet transferred their regions or avatar inventories, there’s still time, Soulstar said. “3rd Rock Grid will create OARs for every region and store them in cloud storage for a year for you to retrieve, and there will also be multiple IARs for active users. And you can load OARs and IARs for recovery, so if you get locked out, you won’t lose everything.”

ZetaWorlds will upload OAR region export files and IAR inventory files for users, and the 3rd Wind community will assist with this process, she said.

The OARs will be “archived for the foreseeable future,” 3rd Rock Grid board member Tara Dockery (known in-world as Thoria Millgrove) said yesterday. “We will provide those OARs to the registered owner upon request.”

Dockery said her local Peapod is already at ZetaWorlds with the event. Hypergrid business.
