As the virtual doors of OSFest 2024 open, creators, builders, vendors, performers, and sponsors begin to create their digital spaces. The annual event, hosted on the OpenSim Fest grid, will run from October 4 to October 20, 2024, and will provide a variety of platforms for virtual exhibitions, performances, and commerce.
“The grid is open for participants to create or import their own creations through HyperGrid,” said Lisa Laxton, OSFest director and founder of Infinite Metaverse Alliance and Laxton Consulting.
She said OSFest now has a new mainland layout based on feedback from previous events. Hypergrid businessThere are also smaller sponsorship parcels available for $3 each for other grid or region owners who want to increase visibility and promote their grid in the HyperGrid community.
A limited number of parcels will also be available, paid for by sponsors and provided free of charge to exhibitors and vendors.
OSFest is also looking for volunteers to join the OSFest team to help with all the preparations for the event and assist during the festival.

The festival will feature 110 hours of performance events and 84 hours of exhibits, shops, and interactive activities. OSFest has dedicated eight hours to satellite events on other grids to encourage cross-platform participation, paying homage to the broader virtual community.
Laxton said most of the 110-hour performer slots are already booked, as are times for vendor sales events. She added that there are also non-music events and activities on the schedule.
“Some of our contributors have started or will be bringing their builds soon, and the content infrastructure is underway, along with anticipated updates to the website, schedule, and Discord server,” she said. “This is a fun and exciting time leading up to Open Day.”
This year’s festival breaks new ground by eschewing a unified theme decided by community voting. This approach promises a diverse mix of exhibits, shops and performances, reflecting the diverse interests of the virtual world community. To add a fresh feel, the grid layout has been completely redesigned to provide a new experience for returning attendees and first-time visitors alike.

Organizers are encouraging early installation, with a target completion date set for the end of September.
OSFest 2024 supports Gloebit, enabling virtual trading within the grid.
