Discover all the secrets and new challenges in Star Atlas’ latest major gameplay update.
Starbased represents an innovative update to Star Atlas Golden Era (SAGE), a cutting-edge blockchain-based web browser strategy game operating within a free market framework. This update invites players to collaboratively build and maintain their faction’s galactic infrastructure within the Galia Expanse. This opens a new era of multiplayer objectives, rewarding the joint efforts of each political faction in Star Atlas vying for influence.
The introduction of new gameplay mechanics such as Loyalty Points (LP), substantial changes to ATLAS emissions, Council Rank Experience Points (XP), Epochs, and starbase upgrades and maintenance inject additional layers of strategy, immersion and entertainment. SAGE Experience. With the Starbased protocol scheduled to be deployed on April 2, 2024, this article aims to prepare captains by exploring these concepts. Prepare for a journey to Galia that promises adventure and strategic depth like never before.
The core of Starbased expansion involves developing and maintaining the numerous starbases scattered throughout the Galia Expanse. Players will notice that beyond each faction’s central space station (Tier 6 structure), other sector space stations are now reset to Tier 1 structures. These base stations, equipped with only basic recipes, are in urgent need of upgrades and maintenance.
Players will venture into the vastness of space, tasked with building a comprehensive, faction-wide supply chain to fuel their faction’s infrastructure. This effort includes two important actions: a) Upgrading (Starbase development) and b) maintain (Resource courtesy of Starbase) Each has its own requirements and implications for the wider game.
In this scenario, players face an infinite void and must make strategic gameplay adjustments to rebuild and maintain their faction’s infrastructure. We explain in detail how each key task works to help captains get started quickly.
- Starbase development (upgrade) — To allow a starbase to advance to the next level, players must simultaneously provide some of the crafting materials needed to upgrade the level and anchor the crew to the starbase for a certain period of time. As your starbase develops to higher levels, you’ll need more sophisticated supplies, more crew work, and greater amounts of crafting materials to reach new levels.
Starbases can progress from level 1 to level 5, with each new level unlocking more crafting recipes for the captains parked at the station. These recipes and other benefits will be introduced in future updates to Starbased.
- Provide (maintain) resources to the starbase — A starbase is a massive structure in the middle of space that houses thousands of ships and personnel. Keeping these structures functional requires enormous amounts of resources every day. In the current release version, players must provide food and toolkits to maintain their space base.
Remember that as your starbase progresses through tiers, it will require ongoing resources to maintain it. Failure to provide sufficient resources to maintain a starbase will result in reduced functionality. Running out of food will disable crafting in your starbase, and running out of toolkits will stop starbase upgrades.
As you can see, maintaining an intergalactic supply chain won’t be easy. But don’t be afraid. Because in Starbased there is no reward for good deeds. Each faction in the Star Atlas watches over their Captain’s dedication to the group’s advancement, with a new in-game incentive system coming soon.
The core features of Starbased are loyalty points A system designed to reward players for contributing to faction goals within each game era (24 hours). By supporting starbase upgrades or supplying resources for maintenance, players earn loyalty points that can be used to earn a share of the faction’s daily ATLAS distribution for that era.
This system promotes a sense of community and collective achievement by recognizing and rewarding contributions to faction goals.
Simply put, those points serve as the basis for calculating a player’s ATLAS distribution for that era based on how influential the player’s performance is in fostering faction goals (upgrading and maintaining a castle base) compared to the rest of the players in that faction. Do it.
For example, let’s say the Ustur faction places 100 loyalty points in a particular era through the combined efforts of all players. Player X distributed 4 of those points directly, so Player
Nonetheless, it is important to note that players can choose to retain or distribute the LP they generate in a particular era. Information on how much LP has been distributed in each era is also revealed, allowing players to strategize when to exchange their LP points for ATLAS.
LP distribution is very simple. Players simply need to go to their faction-specific base, click on the Marketplace tab, and submit the desired amount of LP. At the end of an epoch, a proportional amount of ATLAS is credited.
Starbased also introduces another reward mechanism. Congressional rank experience (XP). In the first version of Starbased, players can start earning. XP in your account Contribute to your space base by upgrading and maintaining it, traveling, cargo transport, mining, crafting, and scanning. Benefits and systems for account progression are currently locked, but players will be able to keep the XP they earn and reap the benefits of their early Starbased efforts once the system is activated.
With Starbased, we are ready to redefine the strategic environment of SAGE, making certain existing mechanics obsolete in favor of more dynamic and engaging gameplay. In particular, the Peace Council RFR will be phased out and replaced with a robust loyalty points system for in-game ATLAS distribution.
Captains brave enough to seek out Galia in search of SDUs need not worry, as the resources needed to craft RFRs are still part of the game’s fabric and one of the essential materials needed to upgrade your starbase.
As we are moving towards a smooth transition, there will be a two-week period during which all existing economic mechanisms will remain in place. After this period, the new SDU mechanism will run on Starbased and the existing SAGE client with RFR authoring functionality will be completely deprecated.
As we begin this new chapter, Starbased marks a leap forward for the Star Atlas economy and sets the stage for the integration of combat mechanics in future expansions. This evolution promises to enrich the world of the Star Atlas, giving Captains and the Enterprise unprecedented opportunities to expand their faction’s influence and enjoy the countless possibilities of star-based expansion.
We invite all Captains and Enterprises to take advantage of this opportunity to strengthen their faction’s infrastructure and exert influence across the galaxy by embracing the star-based expansion pack.
