Nyan Heroes Developer 9 Lives Interactive Raises $3 Million in Funding to Support Global Launch of Web3 Hero Shooter

9 Lives Interactive, the independent game studio behind the eagerly awaited IP-based multiplayer shooter Web3 game Nyan Heroes, has raised 3 million in a new funding round led by Mechanism Capital with participation from Sfermion, 3Commas Capital, Momentum 6, Kosmos Ventures and Devmons GG. Dollars were successfully raised. and CSP DAO.

9 Lives Interactive plans to allocate the newly secured funds to the continued development of Nyan Heroes, a next-generation hero shooter featuring unique gameplay mechanics and cat-inspired intellectual property (IP) aimed at mass adoption.

“The investment will be fully allocated to developing Nyan Heroes, supporting our current global team and growing where needed,” Max Fu, creative director and CEO of 9 Lives Interactive, told MPost. “As we move closer to open beta and beyond, we will carefully plan new hires to align with the requirements of our development roadmap.”

9 Lives Interactive’s goal in developing Nyan Heroes is to provide a seamless, abstracted experience for existing gamers, allowing them to engage and engage with the game in the same way they would approach a traditional, non-Web3 game.

“We plan to explore Web3 and provide a managed wallet solution to players who enjoy the benefits of asset ownership. These players will have an abstracted wallet linked to their player account, which they can leverage to transfer assets outside of the game if they wish. They can use them in other applications that support those assets or trade them on secondary markets. The decision is up to them,” Max Fu said in an interview with MPost.

Nyan Heroes is a team-based, objective hero shooter featuring quirky cats piloting powerful machines in competitive battles to protect the world. Players can choose from eight Guardian classes and utilize both unique abilities and agile, cat-inspired movements to achieve objectives and defeat opponents. The mech has extensive customization options through an innovative “augmented weapon” system, giving players a variety of play styles and opportunities to show off their skills.

“Some of our most innovative elements come from movement systems inspired by the agile movements of cats. We’ve created an incredibly smooth and responsive traversal system that allows players to chain together multiple moves to move around the map and use them during combat. From wall running to wall climbing, super jumping, and air dashing, players can express their skills and creativity through more than just gunplay,” Max Fu of 9 Lives Interactive told MPost.

Inspired by the old anime series Neon Genesis Evangelion, the game takes place in the not-too-distant future, in the underground civilization of New Nekovia, a vibrant city filled with optimism, hope, and holographic skies. “We fine-tuned the IP to ensure its visual style and narrative were compelling and unique. We aimed to blend stylized anime-inspired art with a bright, science-based fantasy-driven world, instead of the campy, dark, and gritty cyberpunk tones seen in many games today,” said Max Fu.

Nyan Heroes Launches Early Access on Epic Games Store, Introducing Airdrop Missions for NYAN Token Access

The game, currently in pre-alpha, has gained a significant social media following since announcing its upcoming early access release, attracting over 11,000 sign-ups. Developed by a team of award-winning industry veterans with extensive experience at gaming giants including EA, Bungie, and Ubisoft, the game is currently available in Early Access on the Epic Games Store from March 26th to April 9th. there is.

“We are closely monitoring player reactions to the games we develop. We’re proud of our achievements, boasting outstanding core loops and unique, memorable IP. We will be watching player feedback closely to point out what they appreciate, what needs improvement and what aspects they disagree with,” Max Fu told MPost. “The benefit of communicating openly with the community is that we can incorporate real-time feedback into our iterative process to deliver the best possible experience for our players.”

In addition to its launch on the Epic Games Store, Nyan Heroes introduced Airdrop missions to provide the community with access to NYAN, the token that drives the Nyan Heroes ecosystem. These airdrop missions are the first opportunity for the game’s wider audience to acquire NYAN ecosystem tokens, which will serve as the economic foundation for the game. By completing missions, participants can earn MEOWS points. By accumulating more MEOWS, users can earn additional NYAN tokens. Missions include a variety of activities including social engagement, content creation contests, and ownership of the Genesis Collection.

“Finally, once we launch Early Access through the Epic Games Store, players will complete missions in the game itself, so they can keep collecting MEOWS just by playing! Anyone can play, but performing certain tasks unlocks huge bonuses that give you more MEOWS than usual,” Max Fu explained to MPost.

Unlike many other Web3 projects, 9 Lives Interactive’s goal is to create gameplay experiences and IP that stand out distinctly in both the Web3 and Web2 realms. The company intentionally wants to attract more users to the web3 space by avoiding duplication of existing strategies and developing unique products that entice existing gamers to explore.

“On the Web3 side, we are thinking a lot about how to create a sustainable economy to support our player base,” explained Max Fu. “We are learning from the mistakes of previous economic models and designing ways to create truly long-term sustainable value for our ecosystem.”
