The 17th Annual Virtual World Education Best Practices Conference, which begins Thursday, March 14, 2024, is an online, distributed conference taking place in multiple virtual spaces. This conference focuses on the use of immersive virtual environments for educational purposes, including virtual and augmented reality.

This year we’re returning to the Earth build. Each region represents a different terrestrial biome, including wetlands, deserts, badlands, grasslands, and forests. Conference attendees will be among the first to explore!

To serve you to the best of your ability, VWBPE utilizes a virtual environment and “best practices” to provide training and networking opportunities related to curriculum development. These include:

  • We support community building through expansion of learning best practices into real-world applications of these ideas and techniques.
  • We provide networking opportunities for educators and the community to help support education. and
  • Provides access to the latest innovations, trends, ideas, case studies, and other best practices for educators and the community to help support education

One of the key challenges facing the education world is how to make the most of new immersive technologies in a way that is sustainable and accessible within limited budgets for both instructors and students. Platforms that are free, open source, or shareable with a broad audience will be showcased, along with methods and research on best practices for their use and application.

This year’s theme is mythological origins.

Mythological stories can provide a way for students to engage in critical thinking and analysis and develop creativity and imagination. Mythological origins can provide students with a deeper understanding of their cultural heritage and how it has evolved over time. This allows us to explore the origins of the socially constructed myths and legends that inspired educators and their diverse works.

Join us as we share our experiences and successes on how virtual technology in the classroom has helped shape education for the better.

This year’s keynote speakers were Wagner James Au and Dr. This is Nellie Deutsch. Guest speakers include representatives from Linden Lab and 2020 Thinker – Renne Emiko Brock.

VWBPE conference keynote speakers and their respective presentations will be featured on the conference website along with a program of networking events that will stimulate exciting presentations, social activities and unique discussions.

The VWBPE immersive experience showcases unique and exciting action taking place across the metaverse. We invite you to explore 11 interactive and engaging locations across 5 virtual environments. The immersive experience will run from March 9th to 31st (excluding conference dates). More details about the experience and access instructions can be found on the program page.
