Uniswap publishes ‘uni.eth’ subdomain through ENS for Ethereum address conversion

Uniswap introduces the 'uni.eth' subdomain, which uses the ENS infrastructure to translate Ethereum addresses into names.

Automated Ethereum-based cryptocurrency exchange Uniswap (UNI) has introduced the ‘uni.eth’ subdomain through the Ethereum Name Service infrastructure, now allowing users to convert complex hexadecimal Ethereum addresses into user-friendly names. .

Users can request a ‘uni.eth’ subdomain using the Uniswap mobile application, and the first subdomain is provided for free. The name change process is facilitated through an off-chain resolver contract to increase efficiency and does not require gas.

An ENS subdomain refers to a name established under an existing ENS name. This is typically used to facilitate the management of multiple ENS IDs, similar to using subdomains in traditional website structures.

Any ENS domain owner, such as ‘uni.eth’, can create an unlimited number of subdomains as long as the ENS domain remains active. The creation and supervision of these subdomains is performed by the owner of the parent ENS domain. For example, if you own the ENS domain “bob.eth”, you can set up subdomains such as “pay.bob.eth”, “email.bob.eth”, or “games.bob.eth”. Each individual subdomain can be configured to point to a unique website, Ethereum address, or other designated resource.

Improved experience for users

Uniswap is most widely used as an automated market maker (AMM), a decentralized exchange that facilitates token trading through liquidity pools rather than relying on a traditional order book system where buyers and sellers directly match orders. Uniswap V3, set up to provide liquidity and improve trading efficiency, has facilitated swap trading volume exceeding $1.2 billion in the last 24 hours.

Recently, Injective (INJ), a Cosmos-based public layer 1 blockchain, introduced the Omnichain domain name service on its mainnet. This aims to improve the cross-chain user experience between the Solana blockchain and Injective, allowing users to seamlessly conduct transactions across these blockchains using the same domain.

As user activity increases in the cryptocurrency sector, as evidenced by Uniswap and Injective, more projects are working to improve their platforms to make it more convenient for users to interact with their services.
