Mondelēz International Joins Hedera Council to Explore and Accelerate DLT Adoption

Mondelēz collaborates with Hedera Council to explore DLT potential

The Hedera Council, the body that oversees the proof-of-stake public network Hedera Hashgraph, has partnered with food and beverage company Mondelēz to collaborate on distributed ledger technology (DLT).

As a new member of the Hedera Council, Mondelēz is actively engaged in creating pioneering solutions leveraging DLT on the Hedera platform, initially focusing on digital transformation projects, supply chain management and business process optimization to improve the overall customer experience. .

“We are excited to continue our commitment to digital innovation exploring distributed ledger technology with Hedera. The potential for consumer goods companies and merchants to solve long-standing retail industry challenges is very attractive,” said Xiang Xu, Global COE Leader, Digital Strategy and Blockchain, Mondelēz International.

Mondelēz’s venture into DLT will strengthen its capabilities to support customers in their digital transformation efforts. The company’s overarching goal is to drive innovation in customer engagement and amplify business efficiency and sustainability by targeting Web3 and DLT technologies.

Previously, Mondelēz partnered with SKUx, an early-stage fintech payments company, with the goal of strengthening its customer service program. The collaboration focuses on leveraging Hedera Hashgraph to track the supply chain of consumer packaged goods and facilitate digital payment-based offerings.

Hedera Hashgraph is a public distributed ledger that uses Hashgraph consensus as its underlying mechanism. According to the Hedera Council, it is the only public DLT that implements this method. Hashgraph in particular demonstrates impressive capacity, achieving over 10,000 transactions per second and providing low-latency finality within seconds.

Hedera Council promotes innovation in collaboration with leading companies

Hedera serves as a leaderless, open-source proof-of-stake network driving the evolution of Web3. The resilient ecosystem is jointly built by a diverse global community operating on a network overseen by a council comprised of key organizations including Chainlink Labs, Deutsche Telekom, Google, IBM, Nomura Holdings, Standard Bank Group, Ubisoft, and others.

Recently, technology company Dell became a new member of the Hedera Council. In this capacity, Dell operates a consensus node responsible for establishing the order of transactions. Committee members are additionally involved in network software management. Additionally, Dell is leveraging the capabilities of the Hedera network for application development, demonstrating a strategic move to leverage expertise within the network ecosystem.

The new collaboration between Hedera Council and Mondelēz represents a strategic commitment to advance DLT, foster innovation and improve operational efficiency within the evolving Web3 environment.
