Deloitte partners with Japan Sports Agency to launch baseball-themed NFT game on Astar zkEVM

The Japanese branch of global accounting network Deloitte has announced plans to launch a new baseball-themed NFT game on the Astar zkEVM blockchain in collaboration with the Japan Sports Agency (JSA). This new initiative, targeting young Japanese citizens participating in baseball activities, aligns with Deloitte’s broader strategy to foster the intersection of sports, technology and data.

The newly introduced NFT game is equipped with a digital baseball batting practice system. Within this system, players will have the opportunity to accumulate NFT ‘emblems’ as they participate, bringing a new level of growth experience, especially to young players looking to improve their hitting skills.

According to Deloitte, working with Astar zkEVM, which integrates Ethereum’s zero-knowledge proof layer 2 technology to achieve transaction efficiency, positions the company as a leading player in the global Web3 environment and demonstrates its commitment to technological advancements.

“Web3 contributes to domestic economic growth and regional revitalization, and we look forward to the tokenization of all assets. Deloitte Tohmatsu has expanded its NFT development tools with AstarzkEVM for broader and more diverse deployments. Astar Network lives up to its slogan ‘Lead the way’ to create world-leading practices. “We will support Web3 development through our diverse expertise through collaboration with domestic companies and local governments,” said Hiroki Akahoshi, partner at Deloitte Touche Tomatsu Group.

The application development is part of Deloitte’s participation in Reiwa’s 5th fiscal year sports industry growth promotion project, specifically the ‘Sports × Technology Utilization Promotion Project’. This initiative, led by Deloitte, aims to foster closer connections with sport by leveraging digital innovation and technology to leverage sports data. The biggest goal is to increase the value of sports and create new revenue streams.

Astar Network Facilitates Collaborative Web3 Development

Astar zkEVM is a blockchain network jointly developed and provided by Astar Network in cooperation with Polygon Labs, an important player in the global Web3 environment. The project, which launched on testnet last year, is expected to launch on the Astar zkEVM mainnet in the coming months.

Astar Network is actively working with famous Japanese companies to jointly launch NFTs for various business purposes.

Recently, Astar Network partnered with Japan Airlines and advertising company HAKUHODO to launch the KOKYO NFT series on Astar zkEVM. The initiative proposes an innovative approach to tourism as the collection offers NFT holders the opportunity to enjoy unique travel experiences in various locations across Japan.

Deloitte and Astar Network’s joint efforts demonstrate the multifaceted integration of technology, sports and business innovation, demonstrating the commitment of both parties to advance Web3 applications and contribute to various sectors within the Japanese environment.
